No guarantees of the future. But it seems a quick million through NIL may seem better than a future 2.5m a year in the NFL, which is only a possibility. Staying with a team seems to give a better option with the draft. But that is no guarantee. However with new talent coming, I saw 2023 as a year AD could rise to the top for UGA and possibly be a late first rounder next year. Changing teams may drop him a couple rounds which will cost him big in salary. Not always the case, as Justin Fields did pretty good. And Bo Nix or JT Daniels may have never fared better either way.
TCU was just outmatched and out played. And UGA last night was on fire and probably would have made hash of any contender. But should TCU been in the top 4? No! They had a great season and should have went to a bowl game to end the season on a winning note. But then again, they show up and fight their tails off to beat a pretty good Michigan team. Michigan should have won and then Georgia could have embarrassed them..again.
Without OL Warren McClendon, TE Darnell Washington and OLB Chaz Chambliss, Georgia finds itself on the worry list as well. It is all about "next man up", but after a tough couple title games, both teams are a little beat up.
Agree that spell check butchers the correct spelling. But way to many people misspell or misuse boarder/border, breaks/brakes, there/their/they're, etc
Not going to happen, but too bad he couldn't played an SEC schedule while say Missouri played their Big12 schedule. Missouri would like that I'm sure. They would probably have a 9 game win season. Which probably is the most wins TCU would have playing an SEC schedule. They aren't weak, but they aren't SEC championship caliber either.
Personally I did feel better about the Michigan game last year. But Georgia playing the game they are capable of should easily defeat the Buckeyes. But they can't loss their edge with mistakes. And if the joke is the refs are in the Tide's corner, the looking blindly at OSU by the refs are too obvious.
Unlike the championship games and even bowl games, the Heisman and other individual awards as objective. Meaning they aren't necessary based on stats or numbers, but how professionals in the field view the players awarded the trophy. Nothing wrong with that except for certain people that just can't get stats and numbers out of their heads. As a Georgia fan I was glad Stetson got the recognition, and his story from walk-on to carrying the team to a CFP trophy and possibly 2 is the stuff of Hollywood. A modern day Rudy carried even farther. But I never thought he would win the Heisman. Nor do I see him one day leading an NFL team on the field. Here is hoping for that 2nd CFP trophy, and for now, that is all that matters.
"Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work." Didn't see "best" in the description.
My fear is OSU will be tougher than we (UGA) think. They have an opportunity to do something similar to GA last year. Get embarrassed at home (well, it was the Dome for GA), and have a chance to come back in the CFP and not only win it all, but do it by beating the only team that had beaten you before. Georgia should be able to stop those bucks and easily take care of the MI/TCU winner. But it won't be easy, however, nothing worth having ever is.
Regardless of the outcome of the Michigan and Georgia games, they are still in. But interesting would be if TCU loses. OSU and Alabama would probably be in creating a showdown between the SEC and Big10. First round should be AL/GA and MI/OSU. With the CFP Championship an SEC .v Big10. Ratings would be through the roof.
Idiots! Only 1 reason they think this, they do not want GA playing in Atlanta. Don't worry. The CFP Champs will be will be crowned in CA if that makes them feel better.
Agree. Alabama and Ohio State with fingers crossed that 2 - 4 lose their championship game. GA is in either way.
Shocker tonight. With just seconds to go, SC makes a long winning FG. 31 - 30 Gamecocks. Your welcome Alabama, revenge is sweet..lol
When Georgia lost to Alabama last year, they self imploded. Not taken anything from the Tide, but Georgia did not show up. They did in the CFP. When Georgia did the beat down on Tennessee earlier (I don't care what stat man tries to claim, Georgia went into safe mode the last of the first half and easily could had scored 41 plus but would be given the ball back to much). And while the crowd made a difference, the Volunteers were man handled. And would be again. If USC wins out and their Conference they would deserve the 4th spot. However if they or TCU gets 1 loss, Tenn would deserve a rematch.
Georgia was penalized more yards than TN (60- 55) and turnovers were the same. GA played time management the second half (and the last drive of the first half). Unlike you, arm chair analyst, the actual pros have called the game as it was. TN was never a threat in the game and met the first defense they could not score on. Georgia's defense kept Hooker pressured and the receivers defended putting their biggest threat on ice. I'm not sure if the 2 teams will meet up again this year. But I doubt the outcome would be much different.
I always said Ohio State fans should be thankful to the Florida Gators. Otherwise they would be the most hated team..lol
And to be straight, no team has repeated back to back since the inception of the CFP. So if GA can do that, records would be broke.
If TCU finishes the season undefeated and wins their conference, OSU/MI does the same, and Oregon wins out and finishes with their conference title, with Georgia going undefeated, then I do not see a path in for Tennessee. I know, big ifs as TCU has a tough couple games and I don't know if it is Divine Intervention or what, but they have been skinning through. Oregon should win out as will OSU and MI, but one will have a late season loss and I know B1G Ten fans will think even the loser should advance. But the loser of that game will not have the schedule strength that Tennessee had.
Didn't think Tennessee should had been #1, but figured let them lose and that would take care of it. I think TCU has lucked into the top 4, but until they lose, keep them there. Oregon is stronger right now than Tennessee. I guess the final score matters more than the actual competition. Georgia played clock management the last of the first half and all the 2nd half. Otherwise, it could had been easily a 41 - 13 game. However, if Georgia plays like they did last week, it really doesn't matter the other 3 teams. No one has a chance.
Peach Bowl will be a repeat of the first game of the year for Georgia if Oregon wins the PAC12 w/o another loss. Oregon .v Georgia. Without a path to the SEC Championship game, Tennessee is out.
Tennessee defense did NOT keep the score closer. After a 24-3 lead, all GA had to do was play the game of keep the ball away from Tenn. And GA defense owned Tenn all game, so this wasn't going to be hard. Georgia left at least 10 points on the field that if they played aggressive they would had. Without a conference championship game, TN is out. CFP four as of now: 1. UGA 2. Winner of MI/OSU 3. TCU 4. And Bo Nix gets his wish, a rematch with UGA. Oregon
If UGA loses, can we spend a year using the "but injuries" excuse Alabama has been using since the CFP win?
nothing matters until the last down is played. However, Tennessee has barely won a lot of close games with bad opponents. And against Alabama was a slop fest. Tennessee will score 20 on GA, but their defense will allow 35 plus. 38 - 20 Georgia on top, then the clear number 1 can be declared.
AFLAC should chip in to help Auburn hire Sanders. Takes the commercials with Saban to another level. But on a serious note, I have no dog in this fight, but Sanders knows how to recruit. And with an SEC team he would really get some top contenders.
Fearless Prediction - Tennessee is still on a high from the Alabama game, even though it was a sloppy game. You win a sloppy game, you don't change much. You lose and you adjust. Kentucky is not consistent, but they saw the weaknesses and hopefully coached that. 38 - 35 Kentucky on top. How is that for fearless?
Jacksonville being tradition just feels right. And even though it is technically Florida, it gives the folks in south Georgia a chance to be closer to their Dawgs (and Gator fans in other parts of the State). But I can understand the argument of a home and home series also. Just hard to change traditions.
"One of the best defenses in the country". Who, Alabama? Not this year! Not even a top 10. Have you not been watching? Alabama defense may not be as bad as Tennessee (one of the worse). But it ain't no Ohio State or Georgia. Heck, I'm not sure I would rank Alabama defense with that of Kentucky.
Pretty much stop reading at "But I’m here to tap the breaks." Yes, I guess if there are "breaks" for most of the Georgia team, it can be different outcome than expected. But if you are trying to stop or slow down, you need "brakes".
