Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee's new 5-star QB, sets the record straight on pronouncing his name
Nico Iamaleava was one of the most noteworthy recruits across the SEC, and the new Tennessee quarterback has come out with a pronunciation example on how fans should say his name.
ee-ah-MAH-LAY-ah-va.
Iamaleava is a consensus 5-star prospect, and ranked the No. 3 overall prospect by 247Sports. He is an early enrollee who is participating in Orange Bowl practice with the Vols. He’s from Long Beach, California. He chose Tennessee over Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Miami.
His profile has improved since his commitment, but at the time of that announcement 9 months ago, he was considered the No. 7 player in the class of 2023, and the No. 4 QB in this class, along with being the No. 2 player in California, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Vol fans hope in the coming years, Iamaleava will be pronounced early and often, and around the country.
