College basketball game interrupted by Uber Eats delivery person stepping on court

One college basketball game experienced an interesting delay Wednesday night when a food delivery driver made their way onto the court in the middle of play.

The game featured Loyola Chicago vs. Duquesne in the second half of action. With the two teams battling it out on one end of the court, someone delivering an Uber Eats order walked right out onto the corner of the court.

Play was halted to resolve the situation while the announcers did a fantastic job calling the situation throughout.

“From Uber Eats delivery or something? He’s carrying some McDonald’s,” one announcer began in trying to describe the delay. “I’m actually not kidding, I think that’s what’s happening.”

“Was he going to deliver the McDonald’s to someone on the court? Can we rule that out?,” the broadcast counterpart questioned.

“There he is! Who’s he delivering it to, the ref?”

“He said later, give it to me later. Not now!”

As far as unpredictable delays go in college basketball, this one might take the cake. Or in this case, the Big Mac!

  • LMAO! There’s a famous quote from the infamous Karl Marx that seems to apply here, “World-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice… The first time as tragedy, the second as farce."

Does anyone here remember when streakers used to interrupt public sporting events? Maybe, these two historical occurrences are just farce followed by a bigger farce.

    • Oh yes, STL! I am of the age to remember streaking well! Although I never participated myself (wink, wink).

And who can forget that Oscars moment? :-)

This memory actually brought a smile to my face.

But this Uber guy. This is America these days - sit on your duff and order your life.

      • Well . . . I will say . . . there is only a 15 minute break at halftime to gobble down a meal. If the ref didn't eat before the game, his churning stomach will probably make him swallow his whistle to avoid the delay in getting to the intermission.

        • Look at it this way. If the ref swallowed his whistle more the game would move much faster!!! A win all the way around!

  • So a delivery person is allowed into an event which others pay to attend? Seems like a new scam to attend these events for free... haha
