Kentucky basketball wearing throwback uniforms for rivalry clash with Louisville
Another chapter of the heated in-state rivalry between Kentucky and Louisville will take place on the hardwood on New Year’s Eve.
To pay homage to the historic rivalry, host No. 19 Kentucky will wear throwback uniforms from 1993. During that season 3 decades ago, Kentucky defeated visiting Louisville 78-70.

Kentucky is off to an 8-4 start this season and 7-0 mark at home. The Wildcats are No. 7 in the SEC in points in the paint (32.8) with Oscar Tshiebwe leading the way in that department with 10.8, according to Data Skrive.
Meanwhile, it’s been a rough beginning for Louisville with a 2-11 record and 0-3 mark in ACC play. The Cardinals are 1-9 vs. teams that have a record of .500 or better.
Kentucky leads the all-time series 37-17 vs. Louisville. Louisville took the last matchup 62-59 at home vs. Kentucky on Dec. 26, 2020.
