Texas HS football players hospitalized after extreme workout, parents question coach
Several Texas high school football players were hospitalized after their coach allegedly forced them do 400 push-ups as a form of discipline, and that coach is now on leave, according to multiple reports.
The principal at Rockwall-Heath High School, which is east of Dallas, said steps are being taken to determine exactly what happened.
FoxNews4 reported that John Harrell, head football coach at Rockwall-Heath High School, was suspended and placed on administrative leave after a group of his players required medical attention following an off-season workout.
The Dallas Morning News reported that at least 8 students were hospitalized. The school district said it hired an “independent third party” to investigate the incident.
The exact number of pushups is not clear, but it’s been described as several hundred, or as many as 400. According to a parent of a child who’s hospitalized, it was 300 pushups during an hour with no break or water.
How about make that jack a-s-s do the same thing as punishment.
Ha!
Do you really believe everything you read? 300 pushups in an hour? Really? How about not be a jack a s s and think for a moment instead of jumping to conclusions from media that cant even get the simplest things right? I highly doubt that BS. Probably some mother complaining and reporting some BS from their p u s s y son! My god people use your heads. You are probably the same kind of person that blames the teacher for their kid getting an F in class because the teacher was unfair according to your kid. You people are a joke.
The same article says “it could be several hundred or as many as 400 pushups”. So what they are saying is 100 pushups or 400? My god this country is full of p u s s i e s! And my god they didn’t even get a water break in an hour! Whatever will they do? I want to know what kind of “medical issues” did these momma boys have?
And keep in mind, this is not mid-august in 110 degree heat. This is january with an temp of about 50 degrees right now in texas. Its not that d a m n bad. Football isnt for everyone and probably weeded out the momma’s boys that need to focus on their ipads and stay on their momma’s teet.
As a high school player long ago i always thought i was in pretty good shape. I don’t think i could do 300 pushups in a day!
I’m a 63 year old man. I can easily do 300 push-ups in an hour.
That’s not something you just drop and do. Takes time to build up to it, and the coach knows that. That’s like expecting a sprinter to run 10 miles with no advance prep. Herschel Walker was reportedly doing as many as 3,500 some days into his 50s, but that was after decades of focusing on them.
They had a whole hour! That’s under 7 push-ups a minute. No wonder the Big12 is soft….
Hospitalized for doing push ups? lol Candy ass sissies whining. Go somewhere else Coach where you’ll be appreciated.
What a shame. He FORCED them to do 400 pushups IN A ROW without WATER.
Anyone who thinks like this is secretly a punk.
