Bobby Petrino lands FBS offensive coordinator job, program announces
Bobby Petrino has made the rounds as a head coach. From 2003 to 2006, he led the Louisville program.
In 2007, he spent 1 ill-fated year as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL ranks before returning to the college game as Arkansas’s head coach from 2008 to 2011. He was Western Kentucky’s coach in 2013 and then was back at Louisville from 2014 to 2018.
Since 2020, he’s been the head coach at FCS Missouri State, but now he’s heading back to the FBS level as an offensive coordinator. He is joining Barry Odom’s UNLV staff as the Rebels’ offensive coordinator, the school announced on Thursday:

“I believe Coach Petrino is one of the greatest offensive minds in all of football,” Rebels head coach Barry Odom said in a statement released by the university. “I know he will be a tremendous leader, mentor and teacher for our student-athletes. I’m thrilled to bring his experience to UNLV. His creativity on offense will complement our program in every way.”
Odom was recently hired as the Rebels’ head coach after spending time in Arkansas as the Razorbacks’ defensive coordinator.
Petrino’s overall record as a college head coach is 137-71. We’ll see how he fares as an offensive coordinator under Odom in the desert.
