Lane Kiffin addresses Alabama officiating, relays conversation with Jaxson Dart's mother: 'You can’t fine me for what someone else says'
Lane Kiffin was clearly frustrated with the officiating in the Alabama loss, particularly calls involving Jaxson Dart as the Ole Miss quarterback suffered several controversial hits.
At his Monday press conference, Kiffin took a creative path to reacting to it in hopes of avoiding a fine from the SEC.
This was after Kiffin retweeted plays where Dart was hit after the whistle.
“Yeah, you probably missed me by a day, I probably would have said a lot of different things,” Kiffin said. “I probably would have said a lot of different things. But like I said, putting the game behind us. We can’t go back and win the game by calling a different play, changing something. So it is what it is. Obviously, the Jaxson part and after-the-whistle stuff, was disappointing. Talked to his mom. Had to apologize even though it’s out of our control. She mentioned it’s a shame her son gets treated different based on what SEC program that he’s at on game day and protected different. It is what it is, and move on. Let’s make sure that quote, she said. I really don’t want to get fined today.”
