Nick Saban previews Alabama's offense, explains how Bill O'Brien's return will help Tide be better
Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide had an elite offense in 2021. Heck, QB Bryce Young was so good that he won the Heisman Trophy.
Then, WR Jameson Williams and OL Evan Neal both went in Round 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft.
But, could the Tide actually be better on offense in 2022? Saban joined “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX on Wednesday to discuss why continuity on the coaching staff, starting with OC Bill O’Brien, can lead to big things in Tuscaloosa this fall:
.@AlabamaFTBL head coach Nick Saban joined the guys on @MacandCube to discuss Bill O'Brien returning as offensive coordinator & trying to evolve on the offensive side of the ball.

“We need to improve how we control the line of scrimmage,” Saban said. “It starts up front, I think, always on offense. I’m pleased with the addition of a couple of coaches — tight end coach, offensive line coach — that we’ve been able to add. Their new energy and enthusiasm and ideas may enhance that development to some degree. You always have questions because we’ve had such great wide receivers here over the last 3, 4, 5 years. I don’t know, 4 first-round draft picks and a second-round draft pick. We’ve got a couple of young guys, a couple of new guys that are transfers. It’ll be interesting to see how the dynamics of the passing game sort of comes together.
“But I do think one thing that’s a really, really positive thing is the continuity of the coaches coming back and how the system can evolve with a better understanding of how to implement things is really, really a positive for the players and what we can accomplish and achieve on offense. We’re really pleased to have the coaches that we have. We’re pleased to have Bill back again. It’s always a bit of a transition when you come from the NFL to college, but he’s made that very well and I think this year, we’ll be even better in terms of how he can implement the things that we do as a total offense.”
An even better Alabama offense in 2022? That’s a scary thought.
