Mark Stoops hired Coen off the Rams’ staff to be UK’s offensive coordinator for the 2021 season. After a season with the Wildcats, Coen went back to Los Angeles to be the Rams’ offensive coordinator. Now, Coen is reportedly headed back to Lexington to return to his post as Kentucky offensive coordinator.
Coen oversaw an exciting offense that helped the Wildcats win 10 games in the 2021 season. That season, he was helped by Will Levis and Wan’Dale Robinson, a couple of big additions from the transfer portal. Expect Stoops and Coen to look to the portal again for 2023.
Rich Scangarello, Kentucky’s offensive coordinator in 2022, was fired in late November. UK struggled on offense throughout the 2022 season.
Kentucky is set to face Iowa in the Music City Bowl, a rematch of last postseason’s matchup.
