Jim Harbaugh releases statement about his future at Michigan
Jim Harbaugh has led the Michigan Wolverines to back-to-back Big Ten titles and back-to-back appearances in the College Football Playoff.
While he has the Michigan program among the nation’s elite, he also has been flirting with NFL teams in recent offseasons.
This offseason, rumors are swirling that if a team like the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers offer him a job, he’ll leave Michigan to return to the professional ranks.
But, on Thursday, Michigan tweeted out a statement from Harbaugh, who said he expects to remain in Ann Arbor for the 2023 season:

Of course, the “I expect that I will be enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023” line isn’t the firmest statement in the world. But putting out a statement like this will certainly help reassure many fans.
As Harbaugh’s statement reads, no one can predict the future. But this is the strongest indication we’ve had yet that he’ll remain in the college coaching ranks next season.
That’s far from being committal, but I do wonder if coming as close as he has the last two years makes him want a Title worse than he may have 3 or 4 years ago. Regardless, he seems to go through this every year.
Sounds like he hasn’t gotten the offer he really wanted, or the right money yet!!!!! Seems like he doesn’t enjoy college football coaching overall!!!!!
PS. Probably the recruiting part along with having to ‘re-recruit the same guys!!!!

Harbaugh has a resume good enough to justify waiting for the right job to open up if he does dart back to the NFL, which I do think he ultimately wants to do. A lot of the teams that will have openings are not necessarily in a position to win immediately. I think he can afford to bide his time at Michigan now, especially since he has them rolling.
