Mizzou fans call out SEC officials after Tigers flagged in Kentucky scuffle
Mizzou and Kentucky got chippy early in Columbia.
At the end of the 1st quarter, Kentucky QB Will Levis was pushed out of bounds. On the Kentucky sideline, Tigers and Wildcats players got into it a bit.
To the surprise of many fans, the referees only flagged MU’s Josh Landry for unsportsmanlike conduct.
I, uhh, don’t really understand how all of this ends up with a 15 yard flag against #Mizzou & nothing against Kentucky. Looks like it should be offsetting to me. pic.twitter.com/odp4dgkmss

Many fans are upset that it was a one-way penalty instead of off-setting fouls on both teams.
On social media, the SEC officiating crew is being called out for the decision. Here’s a small sample of what fans are saying:
Mizzou getting the unsportsmanlike penalty is BS. #MizzouKentucky

@SECOfficiating Kentucky players throwing punches and only Mizzou gets called for a penalty? We get the short end each week.

Refs: Unsportsmanlike on Mizzou!#Mizzou

Completely unsurprising Mizzou gets screwed there with zero repercussions on Kentucky for initially starting it/getting in their faces when walking away

That was just a terrible call there. Mizzou players were walking back to the field & Kentucky players cut them off & started everything. I'm sure the Mizzou guys were talking sh** but that's just a bad call.#mizzou #sec

Kentucky players throwing punches, but Mizzou flagged because it’s the SEC

On the plus side, many Mizzou fans think the incident and the call fired up Eli Drinkwitz’s squad. The game is airing on the SEC Network.
