Kentucky defensive back Carrington Valentine announced Thursday that he has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and will not play in the Music City Bowl as the Wildcats face the Iowa Hawkeyes.

“I truly believe that I have accomplished all there is to accomplish at the collegiate level, and therefore forego my final year of eligibility, and will petition the NFL for special eligibility to be eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft,” Valentine wrote in a statement. “I wish all my teammates the best of luck in the Music City Bowl on December 31st.”

Valentine record 46 total tackles (33 solo), 9 passes defended, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery this season. He finishes out his career with the Wildcats with 116 total tackles (86 solo), 15 passes defended, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.
