Spencer Rattler announces decision on 2023 season
Spencer Rattler will be back at South Carolina for the 2023 season.
The Gamecocks quarterback, who just wrapped up his 1st year in Columbia after transferring from Oklahoma, posted the news on his Twitter account with the help of actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Sort of.

Rattler threw for 3,012 yards in 2022 while completing 66.2 percent of his passes, totaling 18 touchdowns vs. 12 interceptions. He also recorded 3 touchdowns on the ground.
While Rattler had a shaky season, he had a memorable final 2 games of the regular season as the Gamecocks defeated Tennessee and Clemson in consecutive weeks. Against the Volunteers, he had a career night, going 30-of-37 for 438 yards and 6 touchdowns, while throwing for 360 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Tigers despite throwing a pair of picks. The win over Clemson snapped the Tigers’ 40-game win streak at Memorial Stadium and ended the Gamecocks’ 7-game losing streak in the series.
Now, Rattler will return in 2023 as the Gamecocks look to improve on their 8-5 mark.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
GO COCKS!
The playoff dream slayer is back.
Gotta be good news for SC fans.
Rattler and The Juice will be will be the most dangerous combo in the SEC. Beamer, get him some protection!
Excellent news!! This is big for Carolina next year.
That’s a good decision from Rattler.
Doesn’t seem like Beamer made a good decision on his OC, but dude is playing with house money, it seems. Hope it works out for him. Well, except against the Dawgs in Athens.
Juice!! Get you an NIL with Jersey Mike’s!
And slam Danny Devito’s head into that hot grill during an ad.
Excellent.
Great news for a much-improved Eastern division that should continue to improve relative to the West next season.
Good news for SC. He was lights out against UT, very good against Clemson although the two interceptions were really awful (no pressure just bad throws), and good but not great against ND. He has the ability, he just needs to up the consistency. Weird how he didn’t get it going until the last few games. They’re gonna have to get the ground game going too, or teams will tee off on him. Good decision by him though.
The last few games Beamer stepped in and forced our OC to simplify his packages and plays, that was the difference for the offensive shift. I expect us to start that way this year, not figure it out after 10 games
Hopefully our new offensive coordinator knows about the slant pass pattern. I think that is a play that benefits Spencer and our WRs.
Good news for SC and good call by Rattler.
