Dansby Swanson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, former Vanderbilt second baseman/shortstop, College World Series champion and 2021 World Series Champion, is moving on from the Atlanta Braves after 7 years with the organization.

Swanson was a star his 2nd year with Vanderbilt and was named the Most Outstanding Player in Vanderbilt’s first CWS Championship in 2014. It was believed that he would be leaving Atlanta for a while now after becoming a free agent.

On Saturday, Swanson reportedly finalized a contract with the Chicago Cubs.

According to MLB Insider Russell Dorsey, Swanson will be taking a 7-year deal worth $177 million. This deal will include a no-trade clause, per his report.

Swanson won the World Series with the Braves in 2021, blasting a crucial home run into right field in Game 4 against the Astros to tie things up. Atlanta went on to win Game 4 and later defeat the Astros in 6 games.
