Hudson Card, Texas QB, announces intent to enter transfer portal

Backup Texas quarterback Hudson Card announced Tuesday that he would be entering the transfer portal, move that is not surprising with Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning set to be on the roster next season.

Card played well in Texas’ narrow loss to Alabama earlier in the year, filling in for Ewers following an unfortunate injury.

He is a former top 40 prospect in the Class of 2020, the No. 2 QB.

Card totaled 928 passing yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception this season for the Longhorns.

  • This is no surprise. With Ewers as the current starter, and Manning coming in, there is scant chance of him seeing the field very often.

  • He should find a program here in the SEC. He was a good quarterback, but it's tough to beat out someone like Ewers. Hope he finds a good program!

  • If he can consistently complete 5 yard passes to running backs standing still in the flat, Napier should make an offer.

    • I'm not a scout or recruiter but from what I've seen Hudson would be an awesome fit in Napier's offense and may be a steadying presence with his experience. The Bama game showed that he is a tough SOB as well.

    • I see Rogers has one more year of eligibility. I doubt Card would want to wait one more year to play.
