Bama fan. My dad went to Bama. I grew up sitting at his knee watching the Crimson Tide... been a fan ever since. My son went to Georgia. My daughter is currently at Auburn. I attended CSU (Columbus (Ga.) State University).

@ Cory Nightingale "Whoever the new defensive coordinator is will be thanking his lucky stars that Turner didn't bolt early to the NFL..." Dallas Turner has only been in college 2 years and could not "bolt early to the NFL" yet.
That would be a nice revival. I would like to see the Richt Bown, UGA vs Miamai.
"Thought we'd get USC in the Peach but Riley Rileyed". Nice phrasing MD. It sounds like the new "Clemson Clemsoning".
As a fan of another school, I think this is a nothing burger. He's 25 and just led his team to back-to-back Natties. I hate to think how I might have acted in that situation when I was his age. As I understand it, he wasn't driving and no one got hurt. Live and let live.
Overall, BOB's offenses graded out well. But the feeling was that Bama was constantly in 2nd and long situations that Bryce had to overcome and that Bama depended on explosive plays way too much instead of stringing together successful plays. I neither happy nor concerned about his departure. I'm more of a "let's wait and see what we get to replace him" type of mindset.
UGA is not the new Bama because they aren't trying to be Bama. UGA is just the new and improved UGA and currently are the best in the land. Bama has a better history while Georgia is better in the present moment. It's really quite simple.
Anyone that watched CF seriously this past season knows that there is no way TCU belongs in the top 5. Their defense gave up 110 points in their last 2 games!! 110 points! UGA is 1st. I'd put Ohio State second. Tennessee, Bama, and Michigan are all in the debate for the 3rd spot... and honestly, it doesn't really matter who goes where.
I know that TCU is the fan favorite and a popular upset choice, but it's just not happening. I originally thought that the spread was about right. Now, I think that it should be closer to 20 points. It could be worse, but Kirby will sit on a lead and bleed the clock. Maybe 41-21.
The point spread looks about right to me. I'd go with UGA 38, TCU 24 in a game where the final score looks closer than the actual game feels.
B Young is the reason Alabama went 11-2, and not 8-5. Winning a Natty is hard to do. Things have to fall into place. The FG block by Mount Cody comes to mind. The 2017 team with all those non-offensive touchdowns (NOTS). Avoiding major injuries to key players. Those types of situations have been conspicuously absent during Young's starting tenure. It's the way of football. Sometimes, the football gods smile on you, sometimes they don't. From a distance, Alabama looks to be in good shape next year except for the QB position, and potentially at the Mike and Sam LB spots. But, hey, Alabama looked to be in good shape coming into 2022. You just never know.
There will so many ups and downs for all these teams over the next two months that this current "picture" will likely be nowhere close to the final result. The thing that is most noticeable to me is that the top half of the SEC is loaded.
I think I recall Minnesota won 3 in a row in the mid 30's. I'm not sure if any were "shared" titles.
I gotta believe that UM may have been looking beyond TCU to the Natty. Give TCU credit. They really wanted this game.
In my humble opinion, pro scouts put too much emphasis on the "combine numbers". I have no idea how good of a Pro QB Bryce will be. He certainly has the intangibles that they should be looking for.
I have no problem with Bama picked at number 5. If Tennessee had not lost their QB, they may have been a solid pick for the 4th spot. The committee has said that they take injuries into consideration when placing the teams. This is one of those years where the top 2 teams had great arguments and no one else really did.
Did you believe the UCF was the National Champion when they went undefeated a few years back?
There are 2 main reasons why Bama was selected over Tennessee. UT lost its starting QB and that makes it a very different team. Even more significant, getting 63 points hung on them by South Carolina in their next to the last game of the year had to stick in the minds during the selection process.
I hope that Dippre can more consistent than Cam Latu. RT young man.
If the Tide can hold on to its current commits (OT Raymond Pulido, mentioned in this article, has already decommitted and committed to Arizona) and pick up 5-stars James Smith and Qua Russaw out of Carver-Montgomery, and flip 5-star Kadyn Proctor from Iowa, this will be a class with massive potential. But that potential will have to be retained (NIL and portal) and developed. Bama needs to get back to the "make his tail quit" attitude that it used to have and that UGA currently does so well.
Prior to the BCS, and after the sixties, bowl games were largely used to determine the AP and Coaches national championships. I would call that "relevant".
Bowl games just aren't as relevant as they used to be. Winning them is nice but it's kinda gotten to the point where it's an exhibition game that acts as the first tryout for next season. Teams don't resemble themselves from just a month ago. It reminds me of the bowl games back in the day where the championships were decided prior to bowl season. Yeah...I'm old.
I must admit, I'm a bit concerned for B Young. Alabama's oline wasn't great to start with, and now, 3 starters will be missing as will key backups. Quick passes young man.
