Mattress Mack bets over $1 million on TCU to upset Georgia in College Football Playoff National Championship
Mattress Mack is known in the sports world for his big bets. His latest notable wager is on No. 3 TCU to upset No. 1 Georgia in Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship.
This week, Darren Rovell shared that Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has bet $1.5 million at DraftKings on TCU to win outright over top-ranked Georgia. The Horned Frogs are double-digit underdogs heading into the showdown at SoFi Stadium. If Sonny Dykes’ squad pulls off the upset, McIngvale will collect a $5.5 million payout.

McIngvale owns and operates the Gallery Furniture chain based in Houston. He made headlines this past fall for collecting a historic $75 million in payouts for bets on the Houston Astros to win the World Series. ESPN notes that McIngvale uses betting to mitigate risk of his Gallery Furniture promotions. In 2022, he offered customers a refund of double their money for spending $3,000 or more if the Astros won the World Series.
Mattress Mack. $1.5M on TCU to beat Georgia and win the national title. Bet it at @DKSportsbook.
Would net $5.55M if Horned Frogs prevail.

“…uses betting to mitigate risk”. Now there’s an oxymoron.
Haha true. But it’s actually kinda brilliant. It’s like when people spend 3k on his mattresses, they’re assuming some of the risk/reward on his own bet on the Astros.
Astros win – he can afford to refund everyone’s mattress purchase by 2x.
Astros lose – he just subsidized his betting losses from his customer’s purchases on the promo…..
Pretty clever
A fool and his money are easily parted.
In related news, you’re paying too much for a mattress.
The guy is a shrewd businessman, but there’s no way in Hades I’d pay over $1K for a mattress, unless Sofia Vergara, Olivia Dunne, or Elizabeth Hurley came with it. ;)
Having recently bought a new mattress, I will say that $1000 is not that much. Mine was like $1200 and I did not get close to the best. Some of those things exceed $10,000. For that much I have few in mind to be included in the deal.
