Bruce Pearl shouts out Tennessee after Volunteers upset Alabama
Bruce Pearl still has love for his former school. The ex-Tennessee basketball coach gave the Volunteers a social media shoutout on Sunday.
Pearl saw long-time Tennessee reporter Jimmy Hyams relay the SEC’s announcement that UT was fined $100,000 by the SEC for storming the field at Neyland Stadium after defeating arch-rival Alabama on Saturday. Pearl seems happy for the program where he coached from 2005-to-2011.
Worth every penny! How bout them Vols? https://t.co/VL0WlhJUiX

Pearl, who has been Auburn basketball’s head coach since 2014, isn’t the only former Tennessee coach to have a positive social media reaction to the big win for the Vols. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin notably tweeted “make it this time” for UT’s game-winning field goal in the final seconds, a reference to his heartbreaking experience against the Crimson Tide as Tennessee’s head coach in 2009.
For some Tennessee fans, it wasn’t always easy to see Pearl and Kiffin return to the SEC as head coaches after departing Rocky Top. Pearl and Kiffin, though, clearly still feel a connection to the Vols.
