Jarrett Stidham to get first career start at QB for Las Vegas Raiders after Derek Carr is benched
Jarrett Stidham, the former Auburn QB, will be the Las Vegas Raiders starting quarterback to finish out the season, as coach Josh McDaniels explained that “none of us are happy with where we’re at.”
McDaniels announced that he would bench Derek Carr and the organization would reassess the QB’s future in the offseason. “There’s a lot to be sorted out when the season is over,” he said.
“It’s an opportunity to evaluate a younger player who hasn’t had much time to play, talking to Derek, who was great,” McDaniels said. “He understands the scenario that we’re in and very supportive of the 2 young guys. Those 3 guys obviously have worked together hand in hand all year and he’ll do anything he can to help them.”
Carr has thrown a league-leading 14 interceptions, including 3 Saturday night during a 13-10 loss to the Steelers.
Stidham has thrown only 61 passes and never has started an NFL game.
