Jarrett Stidham delivers record-breaking performance for Raiders in first career start
Jarrett Stidham impressed plenty of people around the NFL on Sunday with an impressive performance for the Las Vegas Raiders, who fell in overtime to the San Francisco 49ers. It was Stidham’s first career start, and he made it a memorable one.
Stidham broke Todd Marinovich’s record of 243 passing yards in his first start against the Chiefs in 1991, according to the Raiders. The former Auburn QB had a big game and finished with 365 passing yards on 23-for-34 passing with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also joined elite company in the NFL this season. Just two QBs have thrown for 3 passing TDs in a game this season against the 49ers: Patrick Mahomes and Stidham.
Stidham did it against the league’s top-rated defense entering the game. The 34 points were the most the 49ers have allowed since the Kansas City Chiefs beat them 44-23 on Oct. 23, which also was San Francisco’s most recent loss.
He also didn’t waste any time. Stidham led the Raiders to 10 points on their first two drives, the first time San Francisco has allowed an opponent to score on its first two series this season.
