DJ James was a transfer portal signing for Bryan Harsin and Auburn in 2022 after the cornerback spent 3 seasons on the Oregon roster.

With Hugh Freeze taking the reins in 2023, James has apparently made a decision on whether to remain with the program, enter the transfer portal, or declare for the NFL Draft. And it appears that he’ll suit up for at least 1 more season on the Plains, according to On3’s Wade Peery.

In his first season with the Tigers, James made 37 tackles including a tackle for a loss. He also made 1 interception while defending 8 passes, tied for the team lead in that category. As a result, he picked up 2nd-team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press.

While at Oregon, he played in a total of 25 games, combining for 72 tackles. He was a 3-star recruit that was considered the No. 61 cornerback in the class of 2019.

Auburn will have some work to do in Freeze’s 1st season back in the SEC. The Tigers were 5-7 overall, including a 2-6 mark in SEC play.
