Florida lost a key contributor on its offensive line to the transfer portal on Thursday evening.

Michael Tarquin played in 8 games for the Gators in 2022, starting 7 times. In 2021, he played in 12 games and started twice, seeing time at either tackle spot. On Thursday evening, Tarquin announced on his Twitter account that he had entered the transfer portal, shortly after earning a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the university.

The Ocala, Fla. product was a former 4-star recruit in the class of 2019. He was considered the No. 22 offensive tackle in the recruiting class. As a freshman, he appeared in 3 games, qualifying for a redshirt. He played in all 10 games in the COVID-shortened season of 2020. He will now continue his collegiate career as a graduate transfer elsewhere.

Florida ended the first year of the Billy Napier era with a 6-7 mark and a 3-5 record in the SEC. That included a 30-3 loss to No. 16 Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17.
