Samon Okunlola is known for delivering pancakes in the form of blocks but instead took it to a new level Thursday.

Okunlola, one of the top SEC targets of the 2023 class, officially committed to Miami. And while fans will focus on his impact on the future of Hurricanes football, most are paying attention to how he announced his choice.

Nicknamed  “Pancake Honcho,” Okunlola used his branding to dose a set of flapjacks with syrup from a Miami container. Other schools in the running included Alabama, Florida and Michigan State.

The Canes have been looking to fortify the trenches this recruiting cycle after a woeful 1st season under Mario Cristobal. Miami’s offensive line allowed 36 sacks in 2022, 30 of which came in conference play en route to a 5-7 season.

Okunlola is now the 2nd 5-star offensive lineman to commit to the U in 2023. Earlier this year,  Francis Mauigoa, verbally committed to the program over schools such as Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and USC in July, and never wavered his pledge.

Okunlola told reporters following his commitment that he will enroll early in January, with hopes of seeing first-team action before the start of the 2023 campagin.
