Billy Napier names Florida's starting QB for Las Vegas Bowl
Billy Napier is turning to his transfer quarterback for the Las Vegas Bowl next week. Napier told reporters Thursday that Jack Miller III is in line to start for Florida against Oregon State.
Miller announced he would be transferring from Ohio State to Florida a year ago. He will be making his Florida debut in the bowl game.
Miller appeared in 6 games during his 2 seasons at OSU. In 2020, his redshirt year, Miller played in 2 games, recording a 21-yard rushing touchdown against Nebraska. Last season, Miller appeared in 4 games for the Buckeyes off the bench.
Miller looked to be the backup to Anthony Richardson entering the 2022 season but was sidelined by a thumb injury that required surgery. Richardson started all 12 games and Jalen Kitna became the backup QB during Miller’s absence, holding on to the QB2 designation for the rest of the season. Richardson has declared for the NFL Draft and opted out of the bowl game. Kitna was dismissed from the program after his recent arrest for child pornography.
The Las Vegas Bowl between Florida and Oregon State is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 17, airing on ESPN.
