Ty’Ron Hopper quickly makes decision hours after entering transfer portal, per report
Ty’Ron Hopper was only reportedly in the transfer portal for mere hours, and now the Florida linebacker has reversed course.
Hopper, who entered the portal earlier Thursday, has now withdrawn from the portal, Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported. Hopper made 62 tackles during the 2021 season, including 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one QB hit. Hopper was ejected from the Gasparilla Bowl following an interaction where officials declared that Hopper appeared to come behind UCF lineman Brett Bell and extend his arms, which sent Bell to the ground.
Hopper’s return helps a relatively thin linebacking corps for the Gators, who also have LB Ventrell Miller next season.
Hopper, who hails from Alpharetta, Georgia, is a former 4-star recruit and a top-4 outside linebacker recruit in the class of 2019 by the 247Sports Composite.
The 2021 season was a big step-up for Hopper, who appeared in 11 games for the Gators in 2020, and finished with 15 total tackles (5 solo, 10 assisted) and one tackle for loss. In 2019, Hopper made an appearance in 4 games as a reserve linebacker and on special teams.
