Dameon Pierce, Florida’s lead running back this past season, has announced his plans for the 2022 season.

In a message posted to social media, Pierce thanked God, his family and friends and Gator Nation for all the memories in the Swamp. Pierce then wrote that he would declare for the 2022 NFL Draft and is putting all his efforts and focus into that opportunity.

Pierce had a team-high 13 touchdowns this past season, and collected 574 yards on a 5.74 yards per carry average. He also produced 18 catches for 217 yards and 3 scores.

Pierce impressed Gator fans when he had a simple answer and explanation for playing in the Gasparilla Bowl.

“Why? Because I’m a Gator, bro,” he said. “When I signed here, I signed for four good years, get my education and I’m going to rock out that way until I die, you know.”
