What's unfair about that? Your new hero, gagatorlakewithnolife wanted him fired before he even got here. I think 4 years is adequate time one way or the other.
You're going to have slow down and run that one by me again, Bubba.
The Nature Lad obviously needs a lesson on African History. But I digress; if Cojones was "slithering" and you're imply thusly that he's a snake, pray tell what kind of snake? Disappointed in you, Humper. May irony never cease!
Humper, going back a couple of posts regarding the portal specifically, remember that I said this is a call of the coaching staff exclusively - based in what they collectively and individually think is an interim solution at each position group. I know it's fun to look at rankings as the 'be-all' criteria, but in this respect it's difficult to compare and contrast programs in that they differ significantly in terms of self-perceived needs. This is unlike recruiting rankings, at least IMO, which can be expected to correlate with team performance longer term and in fact have a demonstrated causative effect statistically. In this respect, both sets of values remind me of early Clemson under Dabo. Now before you say it, I acknowledge that Dabo had a lot going for him in other domains as well, while Napier is as of yet unproven, but the similarities are there. None of this should take your eye off the ball when it comes to a three-peat in 2023. I think even though nothing is guaranteed, ever, that would be about the coolest thing to happen in years. The only challenges I see are Tennessee and whoever you guys draw in the SEC championship, which I think will be Alabama.
I have always figured Monken to be in line for a P-5 head coaching job, so maybe the NFL is another notch in that process. Hope he stays in the SEC, maybe A&M if Jimbo steps on it again, or Mizzou when they get serious.
Always darkest before the storm, Humper. Look at it this way - when Mullen got canned and just before Napier came into the picture, Florida was in the high 60's - low 70's for 2022 recruiting with not much time left before early signing day. When all the dust settled in February, Florida ranked #16 with a definite upgrade in individual player caliber. Regardless of the 2022 season starting on a high note, the results were not good - you can disagree and that's fair, but by consensus a great deal of the variance was accounted for by the attitudinal predominance of the Mullen residual. Napier made a tough choice, the result being a house cleaning. 2023 recruiting was going strong, but the Rashada affair resulted in a set-back of the class rating. In that it only fell to #13 is a positive in my book. Regarding transfer portal, which is based more on interim program needs than anything else - as determined by the coaching staff - still to climb from the mid-30's to #14 is indicative of promise. Is this where we want to be or stay? Obviously not. But given the liabilities of the program when Napier assumed command, it's not too shabby to be sure. On a personal level, I can relate to Napier in that I've had a similar experience in command once and no doubt had one foot in the grave myself until I got it straightened out. If all this doesn't come to fruition in 2024 - 2025 at the latest, then Napier wasn't the guy and I'll gladly assume the title of suck egg mule. I'm positive I won't have to do that, but we'll see one way or the other.
Between Cojones, Mrtruth, and Stl, I'm coming back for more every day. We'll have something more to talk about after the Spring Game anyway, although it is of note that the Gator coaching staff has worked their way up to #14 in the Transfer Portal and even with the Rashada debacle the team recruiting ranking only fell to #13 - not too shabby at all. We're #8 so far for 2024, so with an improved season this year I think the trajectory will be maintained. Of course, absent an improved season, things will get rather complicated for the staff. Nevertheless, I still think 2024 is where it all starts to come together.
I've got a lot of respect for Georgia - always have in fact, going back to the Ray Graves era - and even more so now that they're representing the SEC so well. Through all those years, I've always enjoyed the playful banter between the two teams, much more often than not done in good sportsmanship ala in the spirit of Leghumper (well, when his hemorrhoids aren't acting up anyway). I can honestly say that it never once occurred to me to insult another team, school, or fanbase like we see on here constantly, nor does it to most of us for that matter. Enter now the post-modern age and proliferation of character deficiencies like these trolls. GatorFanAlways captures the true spirit of college football precisely in her comment above. Regrettably, that seems to be more obsolete than ever. Nonetheless, as a shrink later in life, vice combat arms and combat support branches, it's fascinating at least from that perspective while no doubt diagnostic of where we are as a culture. Ojala que.
Are you kidding? This is the most entertainment we're likely to get in the offseason. It's gold, Humper, gold! Hemorrhoids acting up?
Self monitor much? No, didn't think so.
Check the attendance for last year before letting your butt overload your mouth again.
If you mean Two-Bits, he's no troll. What we actually have here is a bunch of folks over-reacting in the silly season for the lack of other news.
15-0 - Not a good look for Alabama to have a fan so rabid that he takes public pleasure in something like this. Talk about insecurity!
Take it to the bank, '94. Dallas has a good police force, which I can attest to, but this was at the discretion of the arresting officers. Other than that, a non-story that gets blown out of proportion.
"A society that capriciously eats its own young will not long survive". - Wong Hung Lo, famous Chinese philosopher.
Not Negan's fault, Emilio, insecurity will do that to a person.
IMO, those are the combat multipliers that count, GatorFan, especially the willingness to work hard and function as a team, versus laisse-fair attitudes and individualism. With those liabilities removed from the equation we'll fairly be able to tell if Napier either has or doesn't have what it takes to win in the SEC. Put differently, I think it's pretty well established what was wrong in the locker room at the end of CDM's tenure and the reasons for it - it'll be much clearer to hold Napier accountable either way by 2024. He has a pretty good endorsement from none other than Kirby Smart, who said, "He'll win big in the SEC". We'd all like to see that happen, so let's give him the chance! If he steps on his poncho liner by then, we can justifiably run him out of town on a rail and start all over again.....maybe even seeing the light and hiring Gatorlakelife as head coach.
Had I received your brain, then by definition I would have received your limbic system, neurochemistry, and large elements of your personality structure. The fact that I nor anyone else on here evidences the autistic logic, dysphoria, and anger characteristics that you manifest on a daily basis obviates that none of us got your cortex, or even your kotex.
Thank you for the response - it has firmly cemented my confidence that you are the world's only surviving brain donor.
Gatorfan, as you implied "grace" transcends all this contemporary nonsense and will take this youngster far beyond football. Might be the right time for Tim Tebow to get involved with him? Both are from the Jax area. Maybe also consider a good Divion II or III program, away from the manufactured notoriety. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings, and she's not even warming up yet in the life of an 18-year-old kid.
You're a kind soul, Emilio, to give this attention seeker the dignity of a response.
Les, ignoring the blowhard below who refers to himself as Negan, I disagree that 2023 will be the winter of our discontent. I think we'll see a good rebound of a Gator team that is very little of a hybrid. It won't be a championship season by any stretch - I don't think we'll get close to that until 2024 - but I really do see it as much better. We can all revisit it in August when we have a better idea one way or another, or at least some data to go on.
I'll go ahead and say it - MLK wouldn't know what to make of this post-modern culture. Can anybody identify who exactly was harmed by a white kid singing along with a popular rap or hip-hop song that plays over the airwaves hourly? Anybody?
Alas, but only one of many examples. It is indeed out of control.
I must have been Latin in a former life, Emilio - I've always gravitated towards Spanish and the culture of Latin America. My first assignment as an MP even serendipitously turned out to be AFP in Laredo, and I would have gladly stayed right there for the rest of my life but for a combat zone assignment next that changed my entire trajectory. Incidentally, I happened to be in Cuba the day Castro notoriously kidnapped those three sailors from Guantanamo, and remember it vividly to this day. Probably spent more time in Ybor City than in class while I was finishing up at the University of Tampa after my enlisted tour.
Glad you said it, I was about to if you hadn't first.
