Kirby Smart offers an update on Arik Gilbert's status
Undefeated No. 1 Georgia will aim to close out the regular season unblemished. Georgia will host in-state rival Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart offered an update on sophomore tight end Arik Gilbert, who missed Georgia’s last contest and has only made 3 appearances this season.
Arik Gilbert did not travel for Georgia's last game, and has only played in three games. Kirby Smart was asked after Tuesday's practice how Gilbert is doing:
“He’s doing well," Smart said. "He continues to grow. Just trying to help Arik as a person and a student right now.”

Smart said Gilbert is making progress but didn’t offered a direct answer about his availability.
“He’s doing well,” Smart said. “He continues to grow. Just trying to help Arik as a person and a student right now.”
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Gilbert has caught 2 passes for 16 yards and a touchdown this season. All of those stats came in Georgia’s 55-0 victory vs. Vanderbilt on Oct. 15.
Georgia-Georgia Tech is slated for a noon ET kickoff and will be televised on ESPN. Georgia leads the all-time series 69-41-5, with wins in the last 4 meetings. The largest margin of victory in the series for Georgia came in a 52-7 victory during the 2019 season.
