Heather Dinich names her No. 1 team ahead of 1st College Football Playoff rankings of 2022
Heather Dinich on Monday appeared on “The Paul Finebaum Show” ahead of the release of the 1st College Football Playoff Top 25 of 2022.
The AP poll currently shows Georgia at No. 1 and Tennessee tied at No. 2 with Ohio State, days before the Bulldogs and Volunteers meet at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Both teams blew out their previous opponents: while the Dawgs let the Gators back in it in the 2nd half before pulling away, the Vols simply outclassed the Wildcats from start to finish.
The rankings that matter, though, are the ones compiled by the Playoff committee, and Dinich has expressed her opinion on who deserves the top spot right now.
“This ranking is going to test the selection committee in what they value more, eye test or resume, because there’s only team with the resume to be No. 1 right now [and] that’s Tennessee,” the ESPN college football reporter told Finebaum on the SEC Network.
Saturday’s game holds massive Playoff implications, and to a much lesser extent, implications for who will represent the SEC East in Atlanta. While the loser won’t be out of the CFP picture for good, they’ll be forced to navigate the remainder of the slate without picking up a dreaded 2nd loss.
