Georgia sputters out of the gate after halftime, thanks to a pair of turnovers
Georgia got off to a rough start after halftime, and it’s given Florida some life in the formerly lopsided game in Jacksonville.
Kenny McIntosh opened the second half with a fumble after a 4-yard run from the Georgia 23-yard line. Florida tacked on a field goal once it got possession. Then Stetson Bennett threw an interception to Amari Burney on the fourth play of a drive. Burney also forced the fumble against McIntosh.
Bennett has struggled through the years against Florida, and now has 5 interceptions in 3 career games against the Gators.
After Burney’s interception, Anthony Richardson found Xzavier Henderson, who scored from 78 yards out on a play where he beat a defender and ran free down the sideline.
Those turnovers helped Florida score 13 unanswered points after Georgia built a 28-3 lead at halftime.
By late in the third quarter, Georgia led 28-20.
