Class of 2023 prospect Monteque Rhames announced his commitment to Shane Beamer and the University of South Carolina Saturday.

Rhames, a 4-star edge rusher out of Sumter, South Carolina, chose the Gamecocks over Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and NC State, among others.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound in-state prospect is ranked as the No. 346 overall player in the Class of 2023 and the No. 48 defensive lineman. Rhames is considered to be the No. 4 player hailing from the state of South Carolina.

Rhames is the 4th highest rated commit in the Gamecocks’ 2023 cycle, behind LB Grayson Howard, RB Dontavius Braswell and ATH Kelton Henderson.
