NFL Conference Championship Weekend Underdog fantasy player over/under picks
NFL Conference Championship Weekend is here! In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers will travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.
In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals with the other Super Bowl berth at stake.
The NFC Championship Game will kick off at 3 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday on FOX. The AFC Championship Game will follow at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on CBS.

My picks for Conference Championship Weekend
Let’s start with the first game of Sunday between the Eagles and 49ers in Philadelphia. San Francisco QB Brock Purdy continues to be one of the best stories in the NFL, leading the 49ers to a win in each of his starts. I believe he continues to be undervalued as a passer. The NFC Championship Game should be a close one, which means Purdy will have to throw the ball plenty if San Francisco is going to win. I like the “higher” option for Purdy’s 219.5 passing yards total.
Last week against the New York Giants, Eagles backup RB Kenneth Gainwell had a massive performance, running 12 times for 112 yards. Yes, most of those yards came when the game was already well in hand for Philly, but Gainwell should earn a bigger role this week against the 49ers. That makes his over/under of 10.5 rushing yards a great bargain. I really like him to receive at least 5 carries against San Francisco. Take the “higher” option for Gainwell’s 10.5 rushing yards.
In the Chiefs-Bengals game, let’s start with Cincinnati QB Joe Burrow. He’s been on a tear lately, but hasn’t been putting up great passing numbers. His over/under for this week is set at 276.5 yards, a number he hasn’t eclipsed in his last 3 games (and hasn’t reached in 5 of his last 6 games).
But in his 3 career matchups against the Chiefs, Burrow has passed for at least 277 yards in 2 of 3 tries. I like the “higher” option on Burrow’s 276.5 passing yards.
For the Chiefs, QB Patrick Mahomes is dealing with an ankle sprain. That should limit his ability to extend plays slightly, which will hurt a deep-play threat like Marquez Valdes-Scantling. His over/under for receiving yards is set at 28.5. He hasn’t reached that mark in his last 6 games and I don’t see things changing on Sunday against the Bengals. Take the “lower” option on MVS’s 28.5 receiving yards total.
How many picks should you make?
The more picks you string together, the higher the “multiplier” or payout. Of course, the more you string together, the less likely you are to win because all of the picks have to hit in order for you to win.
