Shane Beamer may be connected to his viral sunglasses moments for a long time, especially after the big win at Kentucky.

Beamer pulled them out for a post-game locker room celebration after a viral video from July caused a dustup with Kentucky about the culture and climate of their programs. Beamer discussed the subject again on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday.

“Somebody mentioned to me at the beginning of the week to take the sunglasses for after the game if we were to win,” Beamer said. “… I’ve got tons of respect for Coach Stoops and their program and how they do things. I had a great conversation with Mark before the game. … As a head coach, though, you’re always looking for extra ways to motivate your team during the week.”

The Kentucky win came at a great time as South Carolina is off this week, and has more time to recruit.

“I think anytime you can get on the road recruiting, it’s huge,” Beamer said. “This week especially, coming off a win, there’s a lot of buzz and excitement.”
