Kentucky raises more than $160,000 for flood relief victims
Kentucky’s Blue-White scrimmage meant a bit more this year.
The Wildcats not only put a solid game in the books but also raised $162,450 for victims of this summer’s flooding. The Cats and Calipari also raised more than $2 million for Eastern Kentucky flood relief with an open practice and a telethon at Rupp Arena earlier this year back in August.
They also gave out winter clothes like hoodies, sweatshirts and more at Jenny Wiley State Park for families in need to give back to those of Eastern Kentucky enduring hardship.
“We tried to keep them out there staying warm,” Senior Antonio Reeves said. “We gave them jackets, sweaters, coats, and things like that to make sure they stay warm form the winter. You know, it has been a good thing for the community and good for the team as well.”
Kentucky governor Andy Beshear was among those who attended the scrimmage.
“We are here tonight to make sure you know that you are not alone,” Beshear said. “In Kentucky, we love our Wildcats. And tonight, these Cats showed that they love you, too.”
