Some truth there. Particularly after Slocum's time. Sherrill and Slocum were good hires.
Don't underestimate the old Ag football contributors. The budget could handle it.
People keep forgetting that Fisher's buyout is not one lump sum. There is an initial payment, but the remainder is spread over the life of the contract. The program could afford $9M a year for the duration of his contract.
Hope he has an injury free season and has success.
The author really needs to watch game film before posting his material. Weigman easily displayed his superiority to Johnson. Quicker reads, quicker release, more decisive, more accurate on the long ball. He can read pressure better and does not hold onto the ball too long. With even just decent offensive line play in 2023, Weigman should be one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC. Jefferson the best? He did not show much against A&M in a year when A&M was down.
Given the issues with recruiting linebackers, this could be a positive for A&M.
Max a dependable backup? He is marginal. If Weigman goes down, we are in serious trouble.
It is the ranking at the end of the season that matter, not the pre-season ranking.
If Fisher refuses to turn over the reins to Petrino, we will continue to have challenges on offense. This is why how things go with Petrino is an important factor.
Daniels looked pretty darn good against LSU in limited carries.
Talented player. Hope he can stay out of trouble in California.
And how many players in the portal for the second and third teams in the SEC? Naw, we could not put things in perspective, could we?
Key questions: 1. Will Petrino be able to wrest away play calling from Fisher 2. Will Petrino's schemes be successful 3. Will the offensive line be significantly improved, specifically at tackle. Related, will the line stay healthy. 4. Linebacker depth 5. Will the team be decimated by injuries for the third consecutive year The defensive backfield should be a strength again. The defensive line should be strong with a year's experience under the freshmen's belts. The running back room is strong. People really underestimate Daniels. His running style is similar to Achane. Tight end will be a strength this year. Special teams should be solid, with good punters and kickers. Several top notch receivers return. Smith coming back for one more year would be a boost. However, depth is a concern here.
Hope he gets back on track this year and is free of the injuries that have hampered him.
The conflict potential between Fisher and the OC would be present with any decent OC. Given the doubts surrounding Fisher truly giving up the reins, this may be the best he could do.
Probably the best Fisher could do, as many candidates would doubt Fisher's willingness to truly hand over the reins. Maybe Petrino will be strong willed enough to seize the reins.
And the last of the indefinitely suspended players enters the portal. Hope he is able to develop a little self discipline and succeed elsewhere.
We all know that anyone would was committed to Georgia transforms from a great player to not worth having the moment he flips.
