Performance clauses meaning on-field performance?
The really big problem from my perspective is how do any future UF recruits trust the collective to follow through, given how the system is currently configured. Until the NIL deal can be signed before the NLI, they will have to have faith that the verbal agreement is going to become the enforceable agreement and if Rashada had the rug pulled out from under him (I am not saying that is what happened, but it does appear to be one of the possible scenarios) then that will be a problem going forward.
My understanding is that this is along the lines of many contracts in that the number released by the agent is the top end end number (ex. Coach's deal is worth $50 mil over three years if every player meets academic requirement and the team wins the conference and NCAA title all three years). In the same way, maybe Rashada's deal could have been worth up to $13 mil over five years if he met certain performance parameters that would make him more valuable. As far as not being in writing, as I understand it, the deals cannot be tied to attendance at a certain institution. Thus, they have a conversation, where I assume there is a lot of winking, where a player is told "someone like you could expect a contract worth $XXX if you signed with our collective. Then, after they have signed an NLI and are tied to the school, the actual contract is put forth.
Agreed. They can't put together a complete game. On the one hand, you can argue that they can win in a variety of ways, on the other, they can never get all of their weapons working in the same game.
Given that Jordan Addison wont he Biletnikoff, I'd imagine he was an All American.
If his winning percentage was 59.6% then Leach missed by 40% of a percentage point, not by four hundredths of a percentage point. If it was just once then I'd think it was just a mistake in writing but it was repeated, leading me to think that Matt Hayes does not understand percentages or factions. It is still a fraction of a percent but if you're going to beat the drum on that point then be right.
If you haven't watched them play before, you should turn on a Liberty game next season. The offense they run is a unique amalgamation of a lot of different systems, based around the option but spread out wide with really interesting passing concepts. As a fan of football, it's fun to watch.
Do we not want to acknowledge UNC is unranked at this point? They blew through their cupcake schedule and Iowa State beat them before Bama, now they're on a 4 game skid. I'm not saying Bama isn't a great team, they very well may be.
This is a bad look. Kid apparently got his offer pulled, AL.com ran a similar article and got blasted for it all over.
I think Holden Geriner is the only other scholarship QB available now, after that I think it's Trey Lindsey or Sawyer Pate, both walk-ons.
They're not allowed to fact check anything at SDS. Google is actually disabled on their computers.
That's totally fair. Caddy has said in a few instances that he does not really want to talk to the media, not in a grumpy way but just as a fairly quiet person it's not his cup of tea. With that said, you can certainly grow in that area.
Also, do we not remember that Bama was substantially worse in the booster department pre-Saban and that it has been widely reported that one of his major conditions for taking the job was full autonomy and commitment from some of these problematic boosters to fund the assistants and facilities he believed were necessary? Saban has done a fantastic job and is a generational coach in terms of his ability to create total alignment in the program, including people not employed by the University. That doesn't change the fact that AU is far from the only school with booster problems. The fact is, when you stroke a check for millions of dollars, you think you have some ownership. If you disagree with the direction, you think you can make that known and, potentially, try to effect the changes you think necessary without approval from the direct hierarchy. The "crazy Auburn booster" narrative is lazy and reductive. It's been a lack of strong leadership at the AD and President that has led to the boosters stepping into that vacuum and running wild, not some key part of the boosters' identity.
That is absolutely not accurate. Gus never finished outside the top 15, much less the top 20. His classes only finished outside the top 10 twice, and they were 12 and 13 those years. Harsin just can't recruit; the problem isn't that nobody can recruit to AU.
Sean White. Don't forget that, in 2016, he was leading the SEC in completion percentage for a good portion of the season, until he got the shoulder injury that took all the juice off his passes. He was the only example in my mind, but he was a clear example of a HS recruit who developed over his time at AU.
This is it. I think he had something like 7 drops in the first half, just took all wind out of the sails. Apparently Bo's adjusted completion percentage, meaning if the AU receivers only dropped the average number of balls in the conference, was over 70%. He wasn't spectacular but he was a solid QB who made the offensive line look better in pass pro than they were by evading rushers. And he was tough as nails. I'm sad to see him gone and will be rooting for him.
I'll agree that his weakness is creating his own shot but he has a quick first step and the fact that he is such a strong outside shooter means that defenders in a rush to close out can overpursue, giving him a lane. As he puts on some weight, he will be more physically able to maintain position as he drive to the lane. I doubt be will ever be a big creator off the dribble, but the elite shooting combined with good athleticism and great size bode well for his future. He also showed best in the biggest games for the most part. He was able to take over and make deep contested threes when the team was down late. He was a true freshman and was not asked to be the leader on this team, but he has the natural ability and skill to lead by example on an NBA roster with a couple of years to hone skills and grow into that big frame.
This is it. Should not have moved on from Gus for this. Harsin was very obviously not ready for big boy ball. He seems to have adjusted somewhat but we'll see if it was enough. I think the roster is good enough to win 7 or 8 games but it will require some creative play design with some quick passing to open up some running lanes for Tank. I don't think that the O Line is awful, just mediocre. Bottom half of the SEC but not bottom third. The question is whether Harsin and understudy are able to scheme around that to get some quick stuff open. The inclusion of more tight ends in the game might be a useful wrinkle; more power blockers for the run game and tough matchups in the passing game. We'll see. Defense has plenty of talent in the starters if they can find a way to mix and match for depth to keep fresh by the 4th they could be really good.
I think that it was a bit less, if I recall correctly $22mil was the total for all of the fired coaches. Regardless, you are correct that it was structured as a straight payout, no offset for another salary paid to him during the remaining contract period.
Please point us toward those accusations. Problems with him; yes. Claims that he doesn't relate well to certain of his players; yes. Racism? Not anywhere I saw.
The Falcons troll was pretty epic. As said elsewhere, I'm not an anime fan myself but you can't argue the cleverness of the trolling in there.
It's good to see Tech embracing the fact that they are effectively THE university of Atlanta, one of the most talent rich metros in the country.
Supposedly that concussion got him pretty bad. I feel for the kid and hope he does well at his nextstop
No friend, you stated the definition. "Imminent harmful or offensive contact." Imminent being the key word; unless he was on the phone while she was five feet away then you made the opposite point. That said, the fight was over a cell phone and he hit her. That's battery, assault too if he hit her where she could see it coming.
This is the most misleading headline. I think that, at this point, basically every kid who could make a G-League team is going through the eval process. Nothing lost, and they can get valuable insight from NBA scouts and coaches as to areas that they can work on in order to be a more valuable prospect at the next level. Good on Vescovi for doing this and Barnes for presumably encouragin it but these headlines are ridiculous.
That makes 5 of the last 6 against UK in AU Arena. That's a bit more than once a decade. As far as hitting shots out of his ass, this must be your first AU bball game of the season. He has the dagger step and high release to shoot over anyone, and has done so all season long. If anything, this was not his best day shooting.
I won't totally agree with your claim that Washington would have contributed the difference since AU was clawing back before he went down, but I think UK has a better chance to win than AU if he didn't get hurt. UK played a phenomenal game in those early minutes and I hope Washington is ok, he'll be a lot of fun to watch when he's back. I see why Bruce wanted him so badly as a recruit.
