Love these uniforms. Brings back memories of Rudy Macklin, Dewayne Scales, and Ethan Martin.
Tennessee’s missed transition layups could have been the difference. UT will be a tough opponent when they meet in Rupp.
Great get for the Cats, however, at some point you would think we would, in the words of Coach Stoops, “recruit and develop” a HS QB prospect.
I really wish these early accolades weren’t bestowed so soon. Kentucky fans will again have all of the off season to hear smack from other fan bases about yet another Wildcat QB that the MEDIA has hyped.
These players are right on the money. You had to be there to believe the change that took place after Curry was fired and Mumme/Leach came into the scene. Mumme told the fans the week prior to their first game versus Louisville, you’re not going to believe what you’re going to see. Everyone doubted them when they said they were going to sling it 40-50 times per game. The energy and fun during that era was something else! Many SEC coaches were mad and took shots at the way they played offense, passing so much and also being unpredictable on 4th downs, faking punts, kicks, and trick plays. I bought Leach’s book when it first came out and still laugh out loud while reading it. There will never be another. Prayers for his family. Rest easy Coach.
I have loved Coach Leach since his OC days at Kentucky. Truly a pioneer of the “air raid”. I have followed him during his stints at OU, Tech, WSU and MSU. Prayers for God’s healing and comfort.
The 4 or 5 who entered the portal would have not seen the field in the bowl game.
Last I checked Michael Mayer was Screwed out of the Mackey award by a player with inferior stats. Last I checked, PFF #7 comes after #1.
Mayer’s build is totally different than Bowers. He makes Bowers look like Peewee Herman. Mayer is chiseled. Bowers will play a lot of slot in NFL, but I’d place a gentleman’s bet that Mayer lasts longer in the NFL than does Bowers. Further, Mayers stats are better than Bowers ie: 67 vs 52 catches, 809 yards to 726, and was the #1 TE in the country per PFF. He was screwed when he didn’t receive the Mackey Award. Since you are a clairvoyant, and can foresee the future, maybe an NFL team will hire you for a scout, while you sniff Brock’s jockstrap.
Bowers is an excellent receiver, but not the best SEC player. He’s not even the best TE in college football. He will be taken behind Mayer at Notre Dame. He is a complete TE. Pass catching skills, blocking skills, and better size than Bowers to make a sustained NFL career.
You apparently don’t watch much football. His numbers are the best in the conference. It’s not a reach. A reach would be if Levis or Daniels were Manning Award finalists.
This article should be named “QB history at Kentucky”. Thanks for the dissertation on the past 10 years. Also, Sheron has the tools to develop into QB1 at UK. One start does not determine his career, especially when they throttled back the playbook in his first start.
Upshaw was a tremendous athlete when he arrived and looked to be headed to playing on Sundays. Injury and other recruits came in and pushed him far down the depth chart. He has three young TEs ahead of him in one of the deepest TE units in college football. Good luck young man.
Rattler has a huge upside. I’ve said it all season long. He’s recently found his niche and the Gamecocks are rolling. Great win today!
Any high school prospect from The Louisville-Jefferson County area would be crazy not to come to Kentucky after their annual beat down of the Cards. Looking forward to the bowl matchups being announced.
Maybe it has something to do with his 5 TD performance and a 21 point beat down he put on LSU last season.
Cook played one heck of a game. Very competitive game and fun to watch. Congratulations Tigers.
I’m still waiting for Farner to write his weekly article about Gary Danielson.
Ah, no big deal. Storming the field is a learning process. We’ve probably forgotten how to do it in Lexington as of late. Congratulations Vanderbilt and Coach Lea.
Getting back to the Governor’s Cup…what’s at stake is in state recruitment, particularly in the Louisville metro area. Rich Brooks began to get good recruits from Louisville area high schools. Joker Phillips had some success, but Mark Stoops, with his recent dominance in this in state rivalry, has really taken recruiting in and around Jefferson County to a new level. The winner always has an advantage in the UK-U of L recruiting war.
Tide…This page is about UK-UL Governor's Cup game next Saturday. It is not about your obsession with Will Levis.
AU needs to give Caddy a chance as HC. He’s certainly revived the program in the short time he’s been interim HC.
Kentucky played a great defensive game. Offensive, not so much. We have to get points in the red zone. Congratulations Bulldogs. Very well deserved #1 team.
There is no “current” SEC basketball champ. This is the 22-23 season. It has already started. I guess you mean “last year”.
I think Cadillac should be given a chance. Love his passion and the fire Auburn showed on Saturday.
I hope Cadillac doesn’t get overlooked. I liked what I saw Saturday. I hope he gets a chance.
Thy could have won with four players tonight. This team can fill it up from 3 point land. Great depth and length. I’d hate to have this Kentucky team on my schedule this year.
It’s sad there is more discussion about the rule than there is about this young man’s season ending injury.
