Early 2022 Heisman Trophy odds feature 4 SEC QBs among top candidates

Yes, it’s still several months before the 2022 college football season officially kicks off, but we’re starting to see how teams will look this fall.

Alabama QB Bryce Young won the 2021 Heisman Trophy, but he isn’t the favorite to win in 2022, via FanDuel. Instead, that honor goes to Ohio State QB CJ Stroud.

But, Young has the second-best odds to win right now, with Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler and Kentucky QB Will Levis also among the betting favorites:

Winning the Heisman Trophy a second time is almost impossible, so we’ll see if Young can accomplish the historic feat this fall.

He’ll have plenty of competition, including some among his fellow SEC QBs, it seems.

  • I was suprised Uiagalelei was on this list so I looked up his stats from last season.
    2,246 Yards (77th Best)
    9 TDs, 10 Ints (99th & 92nd Best)
    43.2 QBR (97th Best)

I'm even more confused by him being on this list than I was before researching his stats.

    • Uiagalelei is the list because of wokeism, SJW mindset whatever you want to call it.

As you point out, there is not a single on-field/results metric that justfies him being considered a Heisman candidate.

Stetson Bennett, whom I don't consider a Heisman candidate, has much more compelling, results based case than does Ugagalelei.

        • Correct. ^^^^
Not even us dog fans (who understand reality) aren't going to argue Bennett for Heisman, but DJ as one is just can't be justified

Some people call me a troll ( actually most people do)

But autocorrect trolls me like it owns me. Ever seen a dozen drunk monkeys all trying to hump a football at the same time? Autocorrect is the monkeys, I'm the football ...

      • He’s on the list because people are willing to bet on him. Not sure what they’re thinking, but it’s their money.

  • Why is winning the Heisman Trophy a second time for Young almost impossible?
Just repeat the performance from last year. It's not like he hasn't done it before.....compared to the other "favorites"

  • This sportsbook is not “predicting” that DJU will finish 4th in the Heisman voting, that’s not how it works.

Books post odds in order to stimulate wagering. DJU is a well-known name and folks want to bet on him.

From that standpoint, the relative “good odds” for DJU make sense.

If he loses, lots of folks were enticed to lose on him. If he wins, the payouts are relatively low.

    Get it?

    • Then why not put Stetson Bennett in on the list? Bennett in would surely generate more low risk wagers than Ugagalelei.

Bennett has a sizeable fan/support base than Ugagalelei. The only people for Ugagalelei are Clemson's opponents.

  • Somewhat baffling that Hendon Hooker doesn't at least get a bet on him. I mean he put up some serious numbers last year, and I expect him to do just as good this year if not better.

    • I'd bet on Hooker way before betting on Ugagalelei.

Add Anthony Richardson as well. From a potential stand-point AR offers more than Ugagalelei.

    • Agreed! I looked at this article expecting to see a mention and nothing... Was quite surprised!
