LOL.....if anyone thinks for one second that the Army and DOD both don't want to do whatever necessary to get him in that draft then allow me to educate on what this is really about. He is a walking recruiting ad for the Army as well as West Point Academy, and if his career is successful he will be a huge promotion tool that will be utilized once he puts on his cute butter bar. In no world is this a selfish move, but one that has a a couple of 4 stars working overtime somewhere to insure the deferment was made possible as well as gotten him word of how important his NFL chances being as priority to both him and the Army both are.

lol I think a lot of your coach and have said for several years I would like him at Miss State. That's the polite response. I could have also pointed out that what you perceive as envy is merely staying informed as I check every SEC members pages to see what's going on. It's a Miss State thing....we know that only foolish people restrict their information to places made up of like minded people. They go on to take that guarded information exposure as somehow proof that the entire world agrees with them, hence making them right.

I have not heard any actual scouting reports that have him in the top 5 QBs. Most likely whoever his agent had do his draft projection based it off his PFF score which is basically money ball like they have in baseball applied to football...based off how many points they could find a way to attribute to him adding to a team. For perspective, if you go by PFF....Russel Wilson with his three wins this year is the second best QB in the NFL this season. If you go by PFF. While true Allen's NCAA completion percentage is only a few points higher then Richardson, don't ignore the rest of the story as Allen had like 250 more attempts then Richardson, almost 2k yards more, almost twice the TDs, with just 6 more interceptions. So anyone trying to pitch that comparison is doing some serious cherry picking with their data. And while Richardson might have solid mechanics if given time to plant his feet and wind it up, Allen's mechanics don't care if he's set or running for his life. Not that I am a Josh Allen fanboy, nor do I want Richardson to fail. But what will cause him to fail is him apparently not having at least one person who will tell him what he needs to hear as opposed to what he wants to hear. If some team is drinking on draft day and uses a 1st round, AR will find out out he is nowhere near the capability of what is expected for a 1st round QB in today's times. Add in the culture shock coming that as surprising as how equal people became at the college level it holds nothing to the level of play in the NFL...I sincerely think anything more then a 3rd round pick is a bad pick and setting the stage for failure with him.

Richardson seems a lot like Dak Prescott was in my opinion when Dak was a Junior. It's something you see a lot with dual threat QBs.....more often then not, they're more "chuckers" then passers. Someone should show him the night and day improvement Dak had with his completion % when comparing his senior year against his junior year. Of course....that means him being real about resisting the urge to run and instead standing in that pocket and passing the ball. That's what it took for Dak.

Not if by "he threw me off the bed" she really means he had a violent reaction to me initiating physical conflict by biting him and I was thrown from the bed....and if by "he put my head against the wall" she really means he got ahold of me and made it crystal clear what I'm willfully inviting the next time I decide frustration on my part somehow magically means I can cause harm or pain to him without repercussion. It's more then reasonable force because it basically ends in restraint. The fact he didn't knock the hell out of her shows that. People keep talking about the dad....don't forget the mother attacked someone else for the sole crime of being related to him. Maybe the dad should have raised his daughter to not be violent when she doesn't get her way, or at the very least prepared her for what world she was stepping into. The number one reason Peyton didn't go to Ole Miss was they had the NCAA stalking the campus showing off a REALLY big stick of a probationary period for violations. Anyone who remembers that cluster remembers that the NCAA all but said, "Let's see how many scholarships it takes for a University to be deprived of before it dies". Had Cooper not been hurt, even the probation wouldn't have mattered, which considering Ole Miss was bracing for 4 years of probation with 50% of their potential scholarship currency stripped for that duration. I'm a Miss State fan, so if it were up to me Ole Miss would lose every single game they played...and anyone considered in the top 10,000 players nationally were banned from even talking to someone affiliated with OM.So I am the last thing comparable to a hopeful Ole Miss fan. That said, unless the Kiffin throws a drunk and roams north Mississippi raping churches and burning cattle....or the University decides to mandate that all students have to convert to Scientology, chemically castrate themselves, and give 10 years plus 25% of all future lifetime earnings....Arch is going to Ole Miss.

Please know up front that I really hoped Miss State would wind up with Jones during his recruitment....so this is in no way an attack on his play..... Jones has always been more of a "RB playing QB" then a solid "QB who is right at or close to giving you another RB on the field". Meaning, he's always been more of a chucker then a pusher when trying to move the ball with the mid to deep passing game.

I think you're letting nostalgia get the better of you. Madden talked constantly about everything, and most consider that one of his greatest gifts to the sport. You have to bear in mind that those unneeded discussions in your opinion regarding a penalty or lack of....or talking out coaching discussions...are educating other viewers who are new to football. That, and regardless if an emcee in a nightclub, a dj on a radio station, or an anchor on the news....the #1 enemy is dead air. That's why they're silent during the actual play being ran but talk about something between.

I was talking to some people the other day, and Arch Manning came up and they asked where I thought he'd end up. Bad as I hate to say it, I told them unless Kiffen does something WAY off kilter....I expect him to play at Ole Miss. He keeps progressing the roster and schemes to utilize that roster, he'll be able to offer Manning an exotic sports car with the driver seat all warmed up...and offer that kid a chance to do at Ole Miss what granddaddy Archie and Uncle Eli couldn't.

Maybe one of, but not the greatest what if. Miss State was 9-4 that year....and Auburn did all they could to get away with a 3 point win. And he wanted to play there.....that was known by his dad's gracious offer to let Miss State have the discount rate of the low low price of $80k. FAR less then he was telling other prospective schools.

Just saying..... Dak Prescott was a 3 star. LSU was talking TE until his senior season, while Mullen had already been recruiting him as a QB for many many months. Darius Slay? 3 star Benardrick McKinney? 3 star Preston Smith? 2 star Chris Jones? Honestly....I'm not sure if he even had any stars when Mullen's staff started recruiting him. It's why he stayed with Miss State since "the other schools didn't care about him until his recruiting profile was updated to a 5 star recruit" Gabe Jackson? 3 star There are a lot more that are in or retired from the NFL now from his classes, but I just listed the 3 stars or lowers that had talent he and his staff identified that all had elite football skills others weren't seeing. I'll give Mullen credit in that he is a lot like Jimmy Johnson in the sense that he has very peculiar traits he looks for in recruits, traits that most people either don't or don't care about. Doesn't always work out...but it does more then not. SO with that along with "name recognition" power Florida has in the recruiting battle.....I think you're ok

NFL scout's concerns over "his size" doesn't have anything to do with his wingspan from fingertip to fingertip, and anyone who wants to cite that measurement as a defense is either stupid or diverting. It's a concern centering around playing against defensive backfields whose average speed is on par with Smith's best 40 times (4.49)but whose average weight is 30lbs (200lbs) heavier then Smith. Bulking up to withstand the punishment brings in fears of slowing an already average 40 time for a WR (NFL average 40 for a WR is 4.48, and that's with WR also averaging 200lbs). It in no world means Smith can't be a successful or even elite NFL wide receiver. Just as his obvious supremely high skill level as a wide receiver in no world means he is somehow exempt from getting his jock knocked into the dirt and missing playing time from injury. And any multi-million dollar investment having higher odds possibilities of being unable to produce to give a return on that investment due to injury is VERY valid. A wide receiver in the NFL is only available for 14 of a 16 game regular season due to injuries already with a 4.5% of injury per game. And it's important to note that that figure counts entire rosters of all 32 teams over the entire season (based on a normal 53 man roster and 5 man practice squad and not using this past season's exemptions to teams due to COVID19). That said, this in nothing new with scouting. It is a listed concern year in and out,and sometimes proven right. It's never been a factor in deciding a player's skill. But physical size at a position that's average career length is just shy of 3 years already remains a valid concern. Of course, unlike the author and Charles Power I'm more concerned with data and facts rather than hyperbolic horse crap.

LOL....man.....why you gotta put that jinx on my karma? I'm honestly uneasy about the game because even though they carried a loss against Georgia....they gave UGA all they wanted and more. I think that even if the Hogs only win a couple of games this year that this team is paying the dues to lay a foundation with their new coach the program can build off of to get back to their consistent top 10 days.

Honestly, I'm really curious about this game. The Hogs played a HELL of a game against Georgia and Georgia is really team of question marks as some make the case regarding LSU. So I think this game will tell us how good Arkansas, Miss State, and LSU really are and will help bring the West into better focus.

I honestly can't remember the last time Miss State had a QB as accurate with the deep ball as Costello, and I've been a Bulldog fan since the days of our schedule having teams like Memphis, Tulane, and Southern Miss on the schedule and more times then not we lost those games. Wayne Madkin threw a pretty good deep ball but his accuracy wasn't something you could bank on. LOL.....I know I'd kill for us to have a "do-over" and have Eric Moulds on this Miss State team.

Dan Mullen is very much a top tier coach, so I wouldn't worry too much about what other teams' fans say of him. The only "bad" thing about him is ,like any other coach, he'll make a mistake here and there about a player who never develops into what he banks on them becoming. However, unlike other coaches, he'll say something that makes it go from a bite of crow to a heaping serving and people will cite those few incidents as the norm. Some Miss State fans hate on him due to him leaving but most I know (as am I) will always be grateful for the work he put into taking Miss State from a school doing good to not lose to teams like Tulane and Southern Miss to a consistent enough program as to where a .500 win season is a failure. Our struggle has been finding someone who can continue what he was doing and build on it. I'm hoping Leach may be that guy. But who cares what someone says about him? I enjoyed watching Spurrier's "Fun-N-Gun" offense back in the day and between that nostalgia and my respect for Mullen, I pull for the Gators unless they play a certain group of Bulldogs.

That's my concern with the offense is that people will take serious notice. Meaning, and granted I am learning about the air raid offense like an infant trying to learn Latin, if the running attack aspect of it is as limited as I think it is....teams like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn could put up major hurdles with the Dime defense. I say that because they have the quality personnel (and depth) as to where they can have four DBs playing man with two deep safeties for support and the LB mirror the RB. Or they could go man with one safety playing deep and the LB cover middle zone. Not to mention the different zone/blitz packages they could run from the Dime and still minimize exposure risk. I know DBs can still get beat and the QB can still use ball placement to combat that kind of heavy coverage, but a team that has the talent and depth to run the kind of Dime packages I'm talking about will also have the talent and depth to use a four man rush and be able to keep pressure on the QB to make those possibilities harder. I guess that while I fully understand the offense is a pocket passer QB's wet dream, a true dual threat QB is what would make the air raid a true nightmare for defenses as creating 10 to 15 yard zones of open field would be an unintended consequence of the majority of the air raid passing plays giving a nice secondary option to the QB.

I sincerely don't think the LSU secondary was that bad because I saw Costello throw a lot of balls that made my sphincter pucker up due to how tight the receiver was covered. But he either put a lot of those passes in places where only the receiver could grab it (coupled with some nice catches by the receiver) or the receiver just went above and beyond to beat the defender for it. Speaking to the D and O lines of both teams though....that's what I'm really curious about. I'm looking forward to another game or two to see if both Miss State and LSU's offensive lines are that porous (Seemed both Costello and Brennan both spent most of the game running for their lives) or if both Miss State and LSU's defensive lines are really that good. LSU will definitely have a good season though. Brennan got his cherry popped and still put up 34 points in his baptism by fire, and LSU will be the only team to have to play Miss State without any real film to get an idea of what to prep for. I'm hoping we get our offensive line figured out after this though.....because no way can Costello last an entire SEC schedule throwing the ball 60+ a game. And I'm really enjoying seeing my Bulldogs actually have an effective passing game....lol

I don't dispute that. I'm merely saying that there is a lot more to this than a lot of people want to say, and Lord knows what we'll learn over the next two to three years as it runs it's course

Wanted to add....people of the opinion you're espousing are forgetting how a virus works. As we approach flu season (and this is what has people in the medical community worried. My wife is an MD and a CDC liaison for the hospital) we'll see people contract both flu A or B as well as COVID-19. Those people will be human petri-dishes for new strains as each virus will share it's genetic material with each other. Viruses are notorious for sharing strengths with other viruses like this. So take that particularly nasty strain of flu we saw two or three years ago that killed a lot of people of all ages, and now give something like that the ability to attack the lower lungs instead of the upper and you now have a virus like the Spanish flu (although a different viral family) roaming around. Except with the other ways COVID attacks the body you're probably looking at a much higher mortality rate. Worse yet, it might encounter a flu strain that has become immune to all but one or two of our current anti-viral drugs....or it could be novel enough that there were zero drugs or immunity to it. I'm not saying crawl in your closet and cry.....but I am saying COVID isn't something to dismiss

COVID-19 is in no world the flu. About the only consistent trait is has that could be compared to certain flu strains is that it attacks the lower respiratory system (your lower lungs) like the Spanish flu did instead of the upper area like flu strains we've gotten accustomed to. And warm weather means higher humidity which can shorten the range droplets are a risk but warm weather doesn't kill or weaken it. This is why people contract the flu in the middle of summer. In no way am I saying shut everything down or advocating mass quarantines, but this nonsense line that young healthy asymptomatic people are fine is completely false. There is a condition they call Post-COVID fibrosis that they're finding in asymptomatic patients of all ages. Even someone asymptomatic will have blood clots formed in their body due to what virus itself, and it's these blood clots that are causing organ damage. Speaking to the lungs, the clots will fill in the air sacs in your lungs (or they get filled with fluid created because of the presence of these clots) and essentially suffocates the tissue. It literally creates holes in your lungs. There has already been some healthy 20 something girl in the US whose had a lung transplant from this.

Gah......anytime I think of Moulds I think of wasted talent since we had a QB (Taite) who did all he could to not throw him the ball. Taite was dating Sherril's daughter, who had dated Moulds prior. That will always be the Sherril legacy to me......a legacy of, "how many different members of my football team can my daughter run through?"

Abrams definitely fits the bill when considering the notion of a "recent" time constraint, but best DB in State's history? You remember this dude named Fred Smoot?

Why would it be difficult to extend his contract? Anyone not expecting some growing pains this season needs to be real with themselves, and must not have been around during the years when Memphis and Southern Miss beat Miss State like a drum. We lost BOTH starting CBs before the season even started, have talented, but YOUNG players at QB in a very complicated offensive scheme, and a defense on their third coordinator in three years. That's on top of being in the SEC West, with Alabama, A&M, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Even Auburn and LSU, for all their problems, have enough talent to compensate for most of their issues. Anyone thinking Mullen should be fired, or simply allowed to leave, is either young (you don't remember how it used to be), or some "coat tail fad fan". Patience is a virtue. The SEC Network is helping to even out the money field for the entire conference. Schools like Alabama are losing recruits due to being so loaded, which is allowing some 5 star, and more four star players to go to other SEC schools so they can play before their senior year. It doesn't mean those schools are hurting for talent, but it means we are starting to see a more diverse spread of talent.
