Entirely possible. First 2 games are a good couple tune ups to see how the offense has adjusted to the new scheme. Then we have a tough, season defining 3 week gauntlet in my opinion. Playing Bama and LSU in Starkville will definitely help us more than playing those games away, but I'm not saying that'll be enough to guarantee going 2-1 or 3-0 over those games. After that, barring any unforeseen upstarts and ignoring the Egg Bowl (for the sake of its unpredictability) the rest of the schedule looks relatively manageable. Not to disrespect the quality SEC teams we'll be playing, but relative to LSU-SC-Bama all back to back - it's not that bad. That 3 week stretch would be an uphill climb for just about anybody. I think 8-4 would be underwhelming, 9-3 would be respectable, and 10-2 would be doable. It's within our capability but I need to see a reliable, potent offense by the time week 3 is over to start really believing in that. I'm fairly confident we'll have the defense to win us some games as long as Arnett is HC. TLDR: I think we have a high ceiling and a high floor this season.
Your account is here is what's needless. Very little of what you say has much bearing on reality, including that comment. It's funny how delusional you are, you think my corrections of your false assertions is derogatory. Poor lil ole miss snowflake.
Hate to break it to you but that doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm not too interested in the approval of an Old Mess fan. I keep up with my rival school because I care about football. Plus, I get the added entertainment of reading comments from the less intelligent among us, such as yourself.
Negan probably wouldn't like to be told he couldn't leave in this argument
Wow... only OM fans would agree with a well known troll
0.495 > 0.485, duh The success of the last 10 years is not an emotional argument. It is true we have similar win records, but there are many concrete statistics over the last 10 years that show we have accomplished much more than Vanderbilt's football team. For example, since you clearly have not kept up with recent SEC football history, here's a history lesson for you: about 15-20 years ago we were terrible. Then a guy named Dan Mullen came to coach. A couple years into his stint, he recruited an underrated QB by the name of Dak Prescott, (who is currently an NFL QB) who led the school to its first #1 ranking, and sustained it for consecutive weeks. Before this time period, becoming bowl eligible was a "great" season here. Dan Mullen ushered in a new era of bulldog football, where becoming bowl eligible is below the standard. Even a win above bowling is meh. Now, we are on a 13 season bowl streak - a period Vanderbilt has only been to 5 bowls in. 3 of those were on 6 win seasons. If this doesn't add up to you, maybe google some youtube videos on how to do basic math.
Lol. Love the loyalty to a QB who led you to a Egg Bowl loss. I think a lotta guys could beat out (inaccurate)Dart
@omrebs So how's it feel having a losing record over the last 5 in the Egg bowl to a team that is fictitiously similar to vandy? Also I can't remember the last time they were ranked. Much less ever #1 in the past 10 years. There are numerous other examples of why you are wrong, but I have better things to do with my life than argue with an individual who has the IQ of a 2 year old. You are a poor representation of the state of Mississippi.
What a steal! Knew that dude needed to play somewhere better than Vandy! Didn't know he was in the portal.
This article was less accurate than our field goal kickers this year. That's saying something.
Y'all aren't near as entertaining as Coozie/Hailz/Aargh. Take some pointers from them.
Why Jimbo is still a head coach beats me. Seems like just about anybody could do better with all those resources.
They probably will be, but I'd prefer something more interesting than another dynasty team going undefeated the whole way through. UGA winning is likely, but boring. Football should not be boring.
Probably, but as one inclined to root for the underdog I hope they give y'all a good game.
Unless you're a true UGA fan, how can you not root for TCU? They got no preseason AP Poll votes and made it all the way to the national championship. Pretty cool.
Hey TX_Reb & Grover - THIS is trolling. Notice (besides Coozie's comment) there are no logical ideas formulated using factual information, like my responses to y'all. I know it's difficult for you to comprehend the difference between being corrected and being trolled, but it may help you to review your coach's twitter account for examples of trolling. Hope that helps. Have a nice day.
Who knows. As much as I'd love to see Rogers play his senior year here, that's no guarantee. Zavion Thomas leaving the portal seems to indicate there's some optimism for a consistent passing game, but then targeting Bobo makes me wonder. Maybe Arnett's idea is to leave the pass play calling in Roger's hands and bring in someone specifically for the run game? I think our problem is there's no one available. We've got the makings of a great offense - consistent passing game and some great (tough) RB's. Bad timing with Briles. If KJ declared for the draft this year, we may have been able to get Briles.
Lol. I didn't know he said that. That's what it looks like. I never saw that catch in the bowl game coming in a million years, but that was pretty cool.
Gosh, wish Arnett would take it easier on himself. That man was unexpectedly thrown into this position and has done a pretty good job in his first month. Keeping a top 25 recruiting class, winning game 1, all the while honoring Coach Leach and being pretty humble through it all... He's sure done a heck of a job. He's got the whole off season to get better with clock management.
Weird article title. More importantly Bumphis was a MSU star WR. I'm excited to see what he'll contribute.
