Zach Arnett announces completion of the Mississippi State's 2023 on-field coaching staff
Zach Arnett on Friday announced that he’s completed the Bulldogs’ 2023 on-field coaching staff.
Arnett finalized the staff with the hiring of Mike Schmidt as tight ends and tackles coach/run game coordinator and the promotion of Brett Dewhurst to safeties coach. Arnett also announced that longtime Bulldog assistant and associate head coach Tony Hughes will transition back to the offensive side of the ball as running backs coach. He previously coached nickelbacks.
Jason Washington, who coached the Bulldogs safeties from 2020-21 and running backs during the 2022 season, is now the director of player development. Also, SEC veteran coach Greg Knox will return to Starkville for his second stint with the Bulldogs as senior offensive analyst.

Kevin Barbay (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks)
Matt Brock (Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers)
Tony Hughes (Associate Head Coach/Running Backs)
Chad Bumphis (Wide Receivers)
Brett Dewhurst (Safeties)
Will Friend (Offensive Line)
Darcel McBath (Cornerbacks)
Eric Mele (Special Teams Coordinator)
Mike Schmidt (Tight Ends & Tackles/Run Game Coordinator)
David Turner (Defensive Line)
Strong staff, I like it.
The only staff you understand is infection.
Ok Coozie, now you say:
Yeh whatever. The only staff you understand is the one up your rec+um.
He would know first hand about that one.
Friend and Turner better be awesome, or another transition season is going to be frustrating. Those lines are the only way to keep the wins from dipping this year.
Heck yeh. I’d expect 6-8 regular season wins next year given all the talent returning. That wouldn’t be a bad year at all given all things considered.
How stupid are you ^^^ We have all the talent coming back. 9-10 wins and a sugar bowl are the expectation DA
