Jimbo Fisher’s hire of Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator has been met with a great deal of criticism.

Of course, everything Fisher does at this point generates some level of criticism, which isn’t a huge surprise given how poorly his team performed this season.

There are some, however, who believe this is a great move for Texas A&M, including former Arkansas and NFL quarterback Clint Stoerner.

The former Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins signal caller believes Petrino is a great hire for the Aggies.

He cited 3 reasons why on Twitter:

  1. “(One) of the best offensive minds in CFB anyway you slice it”
  2. “Veteran play caller that Jimbo will not intimidate or influence”
  3. “A figurehead that will hold players on his side of the ball accountable on the field”

Added Stoerner: “The #12thManshould be stoked!!!”

Texas A&M, of course is coming off a disastrous 5-7 season.

The Aggies began the 2022 campaign ranked 6th in the AP poll but struggled throughout the year, most notably on the offensive side of the ball.

Whether or not Petrino is the answer to those woes remains to be seen. But he does have a proven track record of delivering dynamic offensive attacks at the college level.
