Mooning is what Manning said it was, and I trust Manning.
Well, that's about the least offensive thing you could get arrested for. No assault, no DUI. The beating on doors is a little concerning, but that's not confirmed. He's a grown man, he'll be alright.
I agree with you on all points. I have no problems with the amount of money. I think he's the guy going forwards. But I'm a cautious man. I would have preferred a four year contract with a fifth-year option, or something similar. His buyout's what, $50 million now? That's a loooot of money. And we're not Texas A&M. Sure, we've got the Haslams, but they don't wanna pay $50 million to a fired coach. Just being cautious.
So he's "the highest paid athletic director in the country and top 8 in the nation". Think about that for a second. Though I'm a little hesitant on the Heupel extension, not at all for this one. Well deserved.
It's simple as this: If we can land our shots, even if we only shoot, say, 40%, we can beat anybody. Then some days we'll have a game where we shoot 20% and go 3 for 21 from deep and lose to a hated rival on our home floor, or to Colorado in Nashville. A tale of two teams.
While I agree that he has a way to go, what Heupel has done recruiting is absolutely great. Sure, it might not be a top-5 class, but it's Tennessee's best class in almost a decade, and it includes the #1 overall recruit, who TN went and snatched out of USC's back yard. Heup has to continue to recruit better and better, but he's doing fine so far. Remember, the majority of these recruits committed before the season started, and you can't forget they did so despite the NCAA sanctions still hovering over us.
Mullen couldn't recruit. Heupel is killing it on the trail.
Same thing was said after last season. Here's some history for ya UT: 7-6/ 11-2 /?-? There is no "figuring out" our offense. Anybody with half a brain can understand how it works. Constant movement causes confusion, tempo causes missed assignments. The only way you beat it is by having superior athletes all-round, like Georgia did. Everybody said throwing the ball was gimmicky back in the 1900's. Now look. In the 90's, everybody said Spurrier's spread offense was gimmicky. Adapt or die.
Glad he got the raise, but I'm not so sure about the extension. Sure, he did great this year, but what if he turns into Butch Jones 2.0? Now, mind you, I'm not saying he will or he doesn't deserve the money. But the extent of it makes me wonder if there wasn't some other program sniffing around, looking to poach a coach.
Writers are in a hard spot here. On the one hand, if you make the "lazy" pick of Alabama vs Georgia, you get slammed for being boring and lazy. On the other hand, if you make a bold prediction, say predicting Tennessee vs LSU, you get various vicious fanatics of certain favored teams boldy declaring that there's absolutely no way that their mighty, invincible team could possibly lose, and that it's disrespectful, degrading, etc. etc. Rock, meet hard place. Personally, I would love to see the latter matchup mentioned above, but I will have to see what the final shape of the teams before I make any predictions.
Just for context, for folks who may be thinking that those numbers seem low, that's just one half.
I don't know why I'm surprised anymore. You try to compliment a rival program, and said program's fans attack you for it. SDS has really gone downhill.
"everytime my bulldog takes a cr AP I think of you" Hahahahahahahaha! That's one of the best things I've ever seen on this site!
Well. That's no good. I'll not stoop to making crude comments about the program's "culture". I don't care how 2000's Miami-esque your school culture is, m*rder is not a part of it. Does Bama use capital punishment?
Oh no! That's terrible. Prayers to all involved.
It's cause they have flattened noses, it can cause breathing problems.
Just they wait until they hear what the football is made out of . . . .
Well . . . . Whoever the Florida fan is who keeps saying "well at least it can't get worse" needs to stop talking. Or start knocking on wood.
My goodness. That was brutal. Congrats, Dawgs. Just shows how much better the SEC is. I don't feel near as bad about the UGA loss now. Great for Stetson Bennett. How Butterfingers Will Levis gets more hype than him I'll never know. See y'all next year!
Well, perhaps you're right. I can't speak for everyone. It was an overgeneralization. But I have heard announcers and other talking heads refer to Tennessee as UT. But there can be other opinions on the subject.
My friend, I live in the heart of East Tennessee. Everybody call Tennessee "UT".
Never the less, UT stopped being called Blount College in 1807. In 1876, UT was called East Tennessee University. And @sonofthesouth, what are you talking about? Everybody calls Tennessee UT.
If you don't ever lose to your rival, is it really a rivalry? See: UT-AL, VD-UT, etc. To be rivals, there must be some back and forth.
Well, seeing as this is a SEC website, and UT is a founding member of the SEC, and Texas is a punk newcomer to the conference, I would think our SEC brethren would know which side to be on.
Also, I hope you realize that UT became UT in 1879, and Texas became Texas in 1883.
