Interesting and valid point. I believe it may have been Dan Enos, if memory serves me correctly.
Shame to hear, I've really come to enjoy your take on things here. However I do commend your ability to recognize that something has become a source of negativity for you and that you can walk away from it. All the best to you and yours.
Did you see his play calls during the last drive of the Tennessee game? Where they were just barely in field goal range? So, instead of running the ball, making the kick a wee bit easier, and most importantly, taking time off the clock, BoB decides to throw the ball 3 times in a row, resulting in 3 incomplete passes, ensuing kick was missed, and just enough time for Tennessee to kick the game winning field goal (also credit Golding's brilliant rush 3 cushion defense). That drive alone was enough to keep UA out of the playoffs.
Congrats on UGAs 3rd national championship. Kirby has rings because he learned from the greatest head coach of all time, particularly during his 7 years at the University of Alabama. He has literally copied Saban's formula and brought it to Athens.
I didn't see this coming (granted, didn't think TCU would win the last game). Come on, dawgs.. get it together!
Actually, I think Dan Mullen is a pretty good play caller - as long as he doesn't have to build a culture or do much recruiting, UA could probably do worse. Now Pete Golding... how he has been on the sideline for 4 years or so I'll never understand.
Three daughters? Wow -that explains why you seem to be much more patient than most of our usual posters here at SDS lol.
Possibly the single most uninspiring and uninteresting Heisman trophy race and and subsequent 'winner' I've ever seen.
I respect the heck out of the program Kirby has built, but I have to say that UGA has the absolute worst fanbase I've ever seen - even worse than Ohio St. You beat Bama 1 time in 15 years and win 1 natty, granted the second is likely on the way, in over 40 years and your God's gift to college football? Give me break. You're Bama-lite (Kirby is Saban's closest disciple) and you know it.
Is Rogers off to the NFL? I could see him being successful in Leach's system at Mississippi State.
They don't measure heart at the combine - Stetson's quite possibly an undrafted free-agent.
Agreed, Bayou - that 2019 clash in T-town was one for the ages.
okay, we'll play the quote game: "Bama also struggled against inferior opponents" - Unlike Ta&m & Texas, Northwestern and Maryland don't have 5-star athletes running around on both sides of the ball. "There is no way on Earth AL gets in over O State" - who is the better team? - "Who cares?" well.. the committee selecting who gets in the playoff? Cheers,
Respectfully, why not? Ohio St has a fairly weak SOS, struggled against vastly inferior opponents (see Maryland & Northwestern), and got throttled at home by the only decent team they played. I completely understand the point of 1 vs 2 losses, but the committee's job is to pick the 4 best teams - Do you think Ohio St is a better team than Alabama?
Woah there, Bayou - we need a little more context! 2012: Beat LSU 2013: Beat LSU 2014: Beat LSU 2015: Beat LSU 2016: Beat LSU 2017: Beat LSU 2018: Beat LSU 2019: Lost to LSU 2020: Beat LSU 2021: Beat LSU 2022: Lost to LSU :-)
First, congrats on an amazing season that no one saw coming. However, 63 points from South Carolina and no Hendon Hooker is your requested proof.
Respectfully - that's wrong; the committee wants the '4 best teams'. Ohio St was just throttled at home by the only game of any significance they played this year. If USC or TCU goes down this Saturday, UA is in and it's no more complicated than that.
I agree with your take. There is absolutely no conceivable way that two 'big'10 teams get in the playoff; outside of Ohio St & Michigan, the rest of the conference is garbage, and those two teams have greatly struggled against vastly inferior opposition (see Northwestern & Illinois respectively). I don't see USoCal winning out. I can see TCU's habit of winning games late finally costing them, and I can't help but feel that GA will handle LSU well enough. Lots of football left, and plenty of recipes for chaos.
I agree with your assessment - I can't see USoCal, TCU, or Ohio St hanging with the dawgs play for play, down for down, man to man for 4 quarters. It's UGA's natty to lose at this point.
Well, after what the Viles did to Mizzou, this couldn't have happened to a nicer team. That said, I hate it for Hendon Hooker - hope he recovers quickly.
I'm personally sick and tired of watching Bama do less with more on defense - Golding is clearly out of his depth. The last time Bama had a defense worthy of respect was with Pruitt on the sidelines. Like Muschamp, he's clearly not head coach material, but the man can coach a defense.
Paul Slime-baum is the epitome of a hack journalist. Saban's team loses 2 rivalry games played away, both on the final play of the game by a combined score of 4 points and he's washed up? Give. Me. A. Break.
You can take a player out of Jawja, but you can't take the Jawja out the player.
I don't see Kiffin leaving Ole Miss for Auburn. I actually think Kiffin's long-term goal is T-town; he wouldn't tarnish his chances by coaching the barners.
A slice of humble pie never hurt anyone. Only 2 of Saban's 6 National Championship teams have gone undefeated in the regular season after all. Congrats on a big win, Vols, and thanks for breathing fresh life into the rivalry.
out schemed big time but only managed a game winning field goal in the dying seconds after some immensely dubious officiating? Congrats on a marquee win. Hope to see UT in Atlanta
Pete Golding must have some sort of dirt on coach Saban.. how he has kept his job this long is beyond comprehension.
