The O line could still be a problem and if the starter gets hurt the backups arent very good. ATM will be an interesting follow. I don’t know. Any team can run into a buzz saw on a nite they just weren’t ready to play. It happens. This one game won’t matter as long as they don’t let it linger. I expect oats will have em ready and wouldn’t want to be the next team they face. You don’t get to #2 by being the team that played yesterday.

There are a few highly paid OC’s, $5-6m I believe. Looked it up last time a monken to nfl article came up. Most are in the $1-2M range though. Any nfl team could pay big if they want him bad enough. but I wouldn’t think money is not the biggest draw. He should have plenty by now. He’s only mid 50’s so the college grind shouldn’t be an issue just yet either. Maybe he wants a couple super bowl rings to add to his ncaa rings. Also success as an OC easily leads to a HC job in the nfl.

He has to prove it for a few games in a row, including a big game or two but he has clearly improved from early 22. I feel pretty confident in him. We’ll see. If the D can take a step he won’t have to be hooker good.

I actually like the Nebraska pick best. With Ruhle at the helm I expect them to be much better. I also think he had the cred to get good players to go to the frozen corn fields where frost and others didn’t. Neon will struggle this season and for a couple more. He has sone skill players but hasn’t improved the trenches enough. They will be improved, hard not to be, but not contenders. .500 likely. I wonder about ark. KJ is good but with new coordinators hard to tell. And with the rest of the west it will be hard to improve tge record.

no coaches get fired this season, barring an epic collapse by Arnett. Hes the only one that would even have a chance. Probably the same for next season. this may be the highest level of stability that sec coaches have been in a very long time, even if the buyouts were not that big.

TN is absolutely good enough but this season so are 15 other teams. We have lived and died by the 3 and our defense for the most part. Having everyone healthy at the same time will help. The next 4 game stretch will tell a lot but in March is where it gets down to brass tacks. It is way past time for coach to take a team beyond the sweet 16. we will just have to see.

Exactly 98. first it was "heupel is a terrible choice" than it was "his offense will never work in the sec" and then it was "now that the DC's have tape on it that gimmicky offense wont work". There has been tape on his offense for a number of years but I guess they needed SEC tape. By Humpers logic you have a bad coach if you dont improve every year. Guess if kirby loses a game this year he wont be any good... Vols likely wont finish 11-1 this season. That doesnt mean hes a bad coach. He still needs another 2-3 years to build the depth back up with quality players. We will see how bad he is in Nicos junior year, maybe his soph. Im pretty sure bama has lost the OC, DC BEFORE. have they done that and had to start a rookie QB too? Maybe so. If any team/coach is capable of overcoming that and staying in the title hunt bama is but certainly possible it will create some problems that they dont overcome quickly too. you just never know well new coordinators and new qb and other team members will mesh.

I do not believe it is fixable. nothing will ever satisfy everyone to a point there are real, tangible, agreements with rules in place. Let alone rules that are even somewhat followed. Maybe, if, a significant number of institutions start to go under and/or interest declines such that TV contracts are not that lucrative. How long will that take? A long time. They may have hired a politician to try to wield some influence and get congress involved but those imbeciles couldnt set up a tea party for 2 kindergartners.

What a parity year for college basketball. To me it seems like most of the top 15 or so teams could ascend to #1. Vols are really good when the three's fall and not not so much when they dont. Lots of teams fall into that category. Luckily for the vols their D allows them to stay in games when the three isnt falling. the real meat of the schedule starts this week. The next 4 are ga, TX, flo and auburn. No easy wins there. Hopefully it will be fun....
