Todd-exotic running the defense in Tuscaloosa. That would be something!
We're about to see how much influence - incentive Saban can muster up with someone in a high position in the NCAA. Looks like it's Pruitt or bust - I meant Grantham... Phat Phil must be losing his mind thinking about Saban trying to influence his way with the NCAA.
Being anonymous brings out the dark side of some people. Some of whom are downright demented.
Plain and simple. Beck was now where close to where Bennett was two years ago. Makes me think Hayes is guessing, and wasn't really paying attention at that point in UGA's QB decision. I'm not downing Beck - Bennett had much more experience and Beck has improved by a lot...
Too much Pappy Van Winkle - a lesson that every young man has to learn. He wasn't driving. This rates as a 1 on a scale of 100. Almost nothing to see here...
This 24 class has a chance to take it to another level...
Who was the last UGA RB who had that kind of speed? Herschel?
If Monken does go to the NFL, I'm not convinced that Bobo wouldn't be a good option. He had some good offenses under Richt (with less talent). How much has Bobo picked up since his GA OC days? How's his health? I hope Monken stays, but UGA has made Monken the highest paid OC in CFB. With the top salary as well as the elite talent, I'm sure UGA can have their pick out of several elite candidates.
Basketball. Yeah, you have that going for ya...
Schumann is not coming... If he was, he would already be there. Maybe Saban can pull some strings - whatever that looks like - with someone with the NCAA and get Pruitt a get out of a show cause card?
I hope Monken is just testing the market to get the most compensation that he can. Either way, I'm sure Kirby has a plan...
This article chronicles Mullen's record against Alabama but almost ignores the fact that Mullen's offenses have largely struggled against Kirby's teams. Kirby's Defenses have almost completely dominated Mullen's offenses, since Kirby became HC at Georgia, with Kirby losing only one time in 2020. I hope Mullen accepts the mythical challenge and becomes the OC at Alabama.
McElroy has a point. When Bama needs to go to the TP for a starting RB, LT and receivers, the problem is deeper than just play calling.
I would think if Schumann wanted the job, he would already have been announced for the position. As far as salary, I'm sure Georgia would match anything that Alabama offers. Kirby has the best coaching staff in CFB. You can't keep them forever, but I'm sure Kirby and UGA are willing to fight to keep them as long as possible.
In two seasons, Brock Bowers has 119 receptions for 1,824 yards and 20 touchdowns. That as a true sophomore, who didn’t get the benefit of a senior year in HS, due to – cancellation of the season. He’s been timed at 22 MPH on GPS. He’s also a good blocker from his position. Bowers is much more than a typical tight end. Easily one of the top players in CFB.
When it comes to the OC hire, can Bama really afford to take the chance of hiring Mullen? This is my point. With Kirby at Georgia, you know the defense will be elite. Pair that with Todd Monken and you also have one of the very best offenses in CFB. Is Mullen really capable of matching what Monken brings to the program? Considering how Kirby's defenses dominated Mullen's offenses, I wonder if Mullen can, even with Bama's talent.
Dan Mullen as Bama OC? That would be interesting. Considering how Kirby's defense dominated Mullen's offenses, I have a feeling Kirby would welcome that result.
So far, all the Dawg QB's say they're staying. We'll see after Spring practice shakes out. There were many twists and turns, and many criticizing Kirby for his QB decisions, but it sure worked out in the end. I have faith that at least two of the Dawg QB's will still be around for the GO43N23 season. The offense will be stacked again, providing plenty of incentive for staying the course...
Carson Beck did look sharp in the passing game, and he seems to have a good understanding of Monken's offense. Beck's mobility will be something to watch for. Kirby has stated that he values a dual-threat QB.
jar, you must be getting Kirby confused with your teams coach. If this is what it looks like, there is no way he stays at UGA.
Stetson deserves the Manning. If the Heisman considered the postseason, Bennett would've likely won that as well. Considering the fact that Bennett is the most decorated QB of the playoff era, he should've won it either way.
jay. Well said. They get the film at Georgia, and they also get the best development in a true pro-style system.
gwhite. You're also not drafted simply because you got 10 - 15 targets a game in an offense that only feature 3 routes for their receivers. Playing in a simplified offense, that uses two primary receiver's is good for only one thing - stats. It's not doing much else for the player's development. The true NFL system at Georgia prepares its receivers more thoroughly for the NFL. A.D. has gotten the best development and that's a good thing in his favor. I hope he can stay healthy and have a great NFL career. At the end of the day this is very likely tampering - poaching - Cam Newton style - pay for play. Georgia will be just fine in the receiver department for 2023. If I was any other coach out there, I would be slow to celebrate this departure. Same for the fans of rival teams. - This just opened up another scholarship for Georgia. Who's to say Kirby doesn't have his people contact the people who know the best receiver on your team...
How much is giving up a chance to three-peat worth? How much did Texas pay for that? If you can't beat them, buy their players...
McConkey coming back is great news! That receiver room is going to be stacked!
I could - would agree with the no's, if the selection process wasn't so arbitrary. Look at the 2022 All American RB selection: Blake Corum - Michigan: 54 other RB's had a higher average per rush attempt. 8 other RB's had a higher rushing average per game. Corum is not No.1 in a single major RB category - but he's the All American pick for 2022 RB. So, Bennett and countless other players can't be in the HOF - because voters decided to go for other players based on a purely arbitrary selection process. And so many are convinced that this is the best process?
Bennett won Offense MVP in 2-playoff games, and he also won MVP in two National Championship games. Michigan: 20/30 - 313. 10.4 Attempt 3TD 0 INT 95.9 QBR. Alabama: 17/26 - 224. 8.6 Attempt 2TD 0 INT 71.0 QBR. Ohio St: 23/34 - 398. 11.7 Attempt 3TD 1 INT 75.2 QBR. TCU: 18/25 - 304 - 12.2 Attempt 4TD 0INT 99.5 QBR. In three of those games - Bennett outplayed a top-4 Heisman candidate. How does a player coast, while winning Offense MVP in those 4 games and with those kinds of numbers? Moreover, Bennett led Georgia to the No.4 Scoring Offense in 2022. That is not coasting, that's an elite offense led by an elite Quarterback...
I get that he went to school at Bama. I don't see Saban still being at Alabama longer than 3-years. Just a guess... I think Schumann will make a fine HC one day. Let's say Saban retires in three years, that would make Schumann around 37 - I believe. Just sounds kind of young to be the real best candidate for that job. If he went to Bama now and Saban retired in 8-years, I could see it as a more likely possibility.
