I was kind of thinking the same thing. If it were Hooker or Hyatt or Heupel? Front page. Forget it, it just means more...
What Tennessee needs to do to solidify #1 seed? Become Duke. Or Kentucky. I'm so old I can remember them ACC-splaining to us why the ACC deserved-DESERVED mind you, three #1 seeds, but Tennessee wasn't worthy. I think that was the year that #1 overall seed Virginia lost to 16 seed UMBC. _____________ I should go ahead and prepare myself now; Tennessee will be a 2 seed in a region that includes Michigan, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Alabama, and Arizona. Seen this many times before. In spite of the job we'll get in terms of tournament seeding, it's still great to be a Tennessee Volunteer. We've been top ten in all three revenue sports in a single year. (Baseball, Basketball, Football). Made it to #1 ranking in two of them. Won SEC titles in two as well. Life is pretty good.
I like Milton mainly because of his attitude. After his 4th down run out of bounds with no time left against Ole Miss in 2021 I saw shades of Guarantano. Now...I think he gets it and has a chance to show it. If we can just get The Big Guy to put his shoulder into running the ball a few times early in a game and stay healty...then he could be really special thus giving Nico the opportunity to develop physically and mentally.
Let's just say Heupel-thetically that this gimmicky offense is just a flash in the pan. Heupel helped to lead Oklahoma to a national championship as a player under Mike Leach as an OC. He then helped to lead OU to a ton of wins and chances to win the national title as Oklahoma's OC. After the last couple of decades, I'll take that kind of success every day.
"White oversight has seen Tennessee football and baseball ..." Another classic from Spelling Down South. White Oversight I should go change my screen name to White Oversight. Just to see if SDS notices.
Wonder how long it would take for the fistfight to erupt between those two?
Not so fast my friend. Vesco got dinged up. JJJ isn't truly 100% either and it pretty much runs on him. We're good. Not elite. Too much water to navigate to get to the Final Four. The seed, the matchups, the bracket, and most importantly, who gets hot when it matters most? I don't see this team getting there due to offensive woes, but you just never know. I'll keep cheering for them regardless.
"edition", "addition"....pssh, forget it Jake, it's SDS. Spelling Down South. It just memes more.
Sure am sorry for these folks killed. I live below the 35th parallel and had just gotten used to seeing his billboards.
Okay, SDS... So you can write an article whining that Stetson Bennett should be eligible to get into the College Football Hall of Fame. Maybe the first issue here is that SB wasn't selected as a First Team All-America QB. Connor, maybe you can go talk to those guys? It's been 8 days now and I'm still waiting to see the first mention of the 2023 HOF class released on January 9. Clearly, I have set my expectations too high for SDS. Here are a few people in that class who met and exceeded those requirements. Eric Berry Mark Richt Tim Tebow to name a few Congrats to Eric Berry. One of the baddest dudes ever to roam the secondary for Tennessee.
According to Hayes, Georgia is about to be the greatest of all time ...in SPITE OF Stetson Bennett?! All Bennett does is make good decisions with the football and lead his teams to wins. He's not a hindrance to Georgia's run. He's the reason for it. I think deep down, Bennett knows that in the game of football, it is never going to be better than right now. Kind of like a Mike Eruzione or Doug Flutie. Or maybe a Brook Berringer or Eric Crouch if you like. Thus, he gives it his all. There is no opt-out for a player like Bennett.
1) He's already graduated. 2) I think he has an NIL deal-which is kind of like a job. Please pass the mustard to Wolfman.
The term has been long forgotten, but I shall invoke it back into the lexicon: CLEMSONING Love the hamburger idea. Did he include mustard? Asking for 100,000 friends.
Glad Tennessee got them early. I think that win at LSU that took the VOLS season to another level of BELIEVE.
Dear Hendon Hooker, Thank you for choosing to be a Volunteer. Thank you for giving your all. It's been an amazing couple of years watching what you do on the field and hearing of the kind of man that you are. I'm proud of you and of this team. You've led this team to the checkerboards again and again and again. You've led this program out of the dungeon and thrilled us all. You're a legend as far as I'm concerned.
If his "luck" runs out, then he'll be replaced. That's already happened at Tennessee once if I recall correctly. As far as Tennessee being "back", the Vols will be glad to face Michigan any day of the week. It seems that your schedule has now cleared up after the game with TCU... I'll stand Tennessee's head coach up against Michigan's any day of the week.
Surprised at the outcome. First that Michigan gave up 50 points. Doesn't happen often. Second that TCU did it. Sounds like the Heisman committee may have chosen wisely. I guess The Big Game(tm) rematch won't be happening this year.
Checkerboards? Really. When? Educate me about the rich history of Kentucky football.
Every win that Carolina owns over Tennessee has come against a Tennessee team that finished with a losing record. Exceptions: 1992, 2016, 2022. Though Carolina does have a whole lot of losing seasons since 1992...
Kentucky selects uniform combination for the yawn bowl. Is it too late to go Checker Bowl over in Nashville? Asking for 100,000 friends.
Carolina caught Tennessee at precisely the right moment. With running backs injured they put all of their eggs into the passing game. If it failed, then it failed. Carolina had zero backup plan and as such, their entire focus was on success in the passing game. Spencer Rattler finally got to square up against a Big XII defense in Tennessee and he torched us. It didn't help that Jeremy Banks was at home instead of on the field. Sure-Carolina would have scored, but perhaps not as much as they did. Worst was that our own high-powered offense could not do what they normally did. Thus, Carolina was able to get into a boatrace with Tennessee and come out on top. Give Carolina credit for that win. It's the only time that they have truly whipped a winning Tennessee team in the entire series.
Georgia and Alabama aren't the only big moments of the season for Tennessee. When Tennessee faced Missouri in NOVEMBER, it was the first UNRANKED Power 5 opponent Tennessee had faced. Stetson gets his due based on the results he delivered with a super team around him. Hooker deserves his based on the results he delivered with a thin team around him.
Meant to add this; We thoroughly beat a legit top ten opponent and a conference champion, and did it without some of the brightest stars on the team. Tennessee ought to finish no worse than 5th in the final poll and ahead of Alabama-regardless of what they do against KSU.
