Florida debuts incredible video setup for recruit photoshoot
Florida might have an edge in the recruiting arms race in the form of a wraparound LED screen that extends to the ceiling and is apparently going to produce the best visit photos in the country.
Those visit photos are everything. The recruit in town wants to look great. The program hosting him and his family wants him to hype up the photos on social media. So teams go all out to make the photoshoot as flashy as possible.
While others need sets, the Gators apparently just need a massive and immersive LED screen from local Vū Technologies.
Five-star 2024 quarterback commit DJ Lagway was in town this weekend and got to use the setup. His father shared a little behind-the-scenes clip on Twitter, saying Lagway is the first recruit to shoot with the studio.
It’s something to behold.
Extremely grateful that my son, @DerekLagway received the opportunity to be the first ever to shoot with the new Vu Technology. @GatorsFB @FloridaGators @coach_bnapier @ScottStricklin @djdomingue @CoachRyanO @JoeHamilton__ @kevinc_sr pic.twitter.com/3q5oJ480Gg

And the photos that came from it are just amazing.

You could make the case those look better than the edits you see floating around social media. If Florida is going to have regular access to that kind of tech, it’s not overselling it to say it could be a difference-maker on the recruiting trail. Every little bit helps, and having more cool stuff than the other guy certainly doesn’t hurt your chances to impress recruits.
Vū Techologies has bookable studios in Orlando and Tampa, as well as Las Vegas and Nashville, Tennessee. The digital video studio company began in Tampa in 2020. The Orlando studio opened last September.
Looks great as does Lagway. Go Gators!
Pretty awesome technology!
Is this where the Jaden Rashada money went?
Well, UF sure didn’t pay anything. He’s available if you want him.
Dude beat EVERYONE to it! Ha! Looks good no doubt about that.
Hope the kid doesn’t get chiggers from that Spanish Moss hanging around his neck…
Wow! Just play football man who gives a s*** about photo shoots?
The recruits like it – so it’s what you do. UT doesn’t have to do it. Are y’all still putting $ in McDonalds bags?
Is Pruitt still dragging the school down for not paying him the money he is owed?
Nope, just hanging points on the competition! #gatorchomp
Team beats their rivals once a decade and won’t shut up lol. The Vols are such garbage
Hendon Hooker would’ve been at the Heisman ceremony if UT invested in PR like this
Or not got hurt
Some of that money could have gone into hiring experienced head coaches especially in football and basketball. Also experienced offensive and defensive coordinators. Toney = Grantham
Gator lake, I’m very interested to hear the solution you would put into place. Please give the coaches and amounts that would be allocated to the coaches and lengths of contracts. As withany business model the exit strategy and measure of beta.
The floor is open, sir.
Troll. It’s already been established.
Let’s go back just a bit
#1 The university of Florida president and regents should be held accountable for failure to monitor Scott Stricklin
#2 Stricklin should have been fired for not overseeing both the football and basketball programs including the women’s basketball program. Both the football and basketball programs needed coaches replaced for incompetence the women’s coach for what happened there.
3 Dan Mullen should have been fired with cause and not been paid one dime. Recruiting was in his job description and he refused to do it.
#4 Todd Grantham should have been fired for incompetence.
#5 Napier should have been hired as the athlete director.
#6 A proven head coach with power 5 experience should have been hired. Billy has no experience at this level and it shows in coaching. He can recruit I’ll give him some leeway there but his in game decisions and lack of any improvement during the season showed where he’s at.
#7 Defensive coordinator, Florida doesn’t have one we have an on the job learning guy.
I will reiterate I am a Florida football fan but I am disgusted with the incompetence that has surrounded this athletic department for years now.
Florida already operates at a disadvantage. Georgia has to recruit against nobody in state unless you want to try and qualify tech. Alabama has to recruit against Auburn only. Tennessee has no other college to recruit against. We consistently have to recruit against Miami and Florida State and now you can include UCF, they are growing.
The administration at Florida dropped the ball a long time ago and yet the single one department that brings millions of dollars to the university has been handled like they don’t matter. If Florida ever finds the right university president and if they ever hire a proven successful head coach this football team would compete every single year. Instead look where this football team is and you tell me that you are satisfied.
I had to post this individually because this website wouldn’t allow long posts.
You asked and I replied.
Thank you for the response – it has firmly cemented my confidence that you are the world’s only surviving brain donor.
And you being the recipient, glad to have helped you
Had I received your brain, then by definition I would have received your limbic system, neurochemistry, and large elements of your personality structure. The fact that I nor anyone else on here evidences the autistic logic, dysphoria, and anger characteristics that you manifest on a daily basis obviates that none of us got your cortex, or even your kotex.
Doc, that left me in amazement. Happy Sunday!
I would suggest a Leghumper-special-lobotomy. You would still say stupid things but at least they would be somewhat amusing
Doc actually makes insightful and interesting comments; whereas gagator is negative and insulting. If the Gators make you so belligerent gagator then maybe you need a break from them.
WTF is wrong with you folks? G8rLakelife lays out his sound reasoning as to what he sees wrong with your under achieving shot show of an athletic program and instead of rational discussion of his points and concerns y’all attack him requesting he lobotomies himself (way to go palley, xlent class as never), or you challenge his mental dexterity (disappointed in you, Doc…very un -Doc like). Point out a single one of his points that deserved that g@rb@ge. No wonder your program suxxxx. G8rLake, anytime you want to trade in that puke orange n blue for some classy sassy red n black, welcome aboard. Objective criticism of our program is welcome…
You’ve been drinking, right?
Leghumper, gagator mainly complains and insults and rarely offers insightful solutions or suggestions. If he showed any sign of hope or optimism then I’d be glad to engage in a conversation.
Sober now Doc and y’all are still out of line…so say my visine thirsty eyes…his point 1 and 2 are somewhat subjective so lets skip to #3:
#3 Dan Mullen should have been fired with cause and not been paid one dime.
(don’t agree with his assertion that the cause was not reruiting, but he certainly should have been fired for his stubborness, any private company in America would have fired him without pay for insubordination)
#4 Todd Grantham should have been fired for incompetence.
(No one will argue this one except perhaps UGa annd LSShoe fans!)
#5 Napier should have been hired as the athlete director.
(His in game adjustment and pre-game prep supports this ridiculous assertion thus far)
#6 A proven head coach with power 5 experience should have been hired.
(insert Brian Kelly-Lincoln Riley-Steve Sarkisian-Luke Fickell even if G5)
#7 Defensive coordinator, Florida doesn’t have one we have an on the job learning guy.
(Todd Grantham is standing by)
Vu Technologies has come to Mertzville with the latest video experience for our recruits. Next up each recruit will be given an NFT that they can use as their avatar in the Mertzaverse. The future of football is right here right now. Resistance is futile.
You will be assimilated
P.S…it quit being funny days ago palley. stick with your new lobotomy material, it isn’t quite as worn out yet…
Are you kidding? This is the most entertainment we’re likely to get in the offseason. It’s gold, Humper, gold!
Hemorrhoids acting up?
I still find it amusing. :)
Between Cojones, Mrtruth, and Stl, I’m coming back for more every day. We’ll have something more to talk about after the Spring Game anyway, although it is of note that the Gator coaching staff has worked their way up to #14 in the Transfer Portal and even with the Rashada debacle the team recruiting ranking only fell to #13 – not too shabby at all. We’re #8 so far for 2024, so with an improved season this year I think the trajectory will be maintained.
Of course, absent an improved season, things will get rather complicated for the staff. Nevertheless, I still think 2024 is where it all starts to come together.
I really miss the Billy Donovan hire talk, Golden is such an upgrade from you know who…
But all seriousness aside, Doc…Gator coaching staff has worked their way up to #14 in the Transfer Portal and even with the Rashada debacle the team recruiting ranking only fell to #13 – not too shabby at all…HUH?
You guys are 6th in the SEC this year in overall recruiting (recruits plus tps). You guys are 8th if you include soon to be newbies Tex and Okie. You guys out spent everyone else this past year following CBNs dream of more infrastructure and the excitement of a “bump” recruiting class………..and you end up 6th (or 8th) in conference…you’re probably right Doc. Keep the lobotomy and Mertzination gibberish rolling, now that you don’t have clown Mullet and his army of
clones I guess it is all you got left to distract from the disaster your athletic program currently is.
All that above aside…you are probably right, gonna have to stay patient and see what 2024 brings (along with Texas and Oklahoma)
Always darkest before the storm, Humper.
Look at it this way – when Mullen got canned and just before Napier came into the picture, Florida was in the high 60’s – low 70’s for 2022 recruiting with not much time left before early signing day. When all the dust settled in February, Florida ranked #16 with a definite upgrade in individual player caliber. Regardless of the 2022 season starting on a high note, the results were not good – you can disagree and that’s fair, but by consensus a great deal of the variance was accounted for by the attitudinal predominance of the Mullen residual. Napier made a tough choice, the result being a house cleaning.
2023 recruiting was going strong, but the Rashada affair resulted in a set-back of the class rating. In that it only fell to #13 is a positive in my book. Regarding transfer portal, which is based more on interim program needs than anything else – as determined by the coaching staff – still to climb from the mid-30’s to #14 is indicative of promise.
Is this where we want to be or stay? Obviously not. But given the liabilities of the program when Napier assumed command, it’s not too shabby to be sure. On a personal level, I can relate to Napier in that I’ve had a similar experience in command once and no doubt had one foot in the grave myself until I got it straightened out.
If all this doesn’t come to fruition in 2024 – 2025 at the latest, then Napier wasn’t the guy and I’ll gladly assume the title of suck egg mule. I’m positive I won’t have to do that, but we’ll see one way or the other.
Actually 15th in the latest 247…but that aside, here is the fallacy in those transfer portal ranking you are so keen on…10 tp commits = 88.78 per player rating boosts you to 15th while 3 at 92.67 only garners a #38 ranking…the disparity in talent acquired aside, which one of these scenarios has the ability to disrupt team chemistry more, 10 or 3?
Sure is going to be interesting to see how Arizona with 26 and Colorado with 23 transfers IN shakes out on the playing field and more interestingly, off the field…
You’re going to have slow down and run that one by me again, Bubba.
What part should I rewrite in Braille for you, Doc?
Poor Leghumper says he’s not amused anymore. Too bad for you.
Thing is the whole deal about The Saga of Mertz is not for you bro. It’s an inside joke between real Gator fans and several intelligent fans of other teams that have participated and contributed to the fun. Maybe you’re jealous that you guys don’t have anything like this going on, maybe you’re too dense to appreciate it or maybe you’re turning into another bitter Georgia troll. Either way your options are to ignore this thread or join in the fun. Joining requires some cleverness and imagination so I suggest you ignore
The fact that you can write about turning bitter and lecture others on what is acceptable to contribute is profoundingly dumbfounding. But then again, I guess when you hate a team and fan base as much as you do, and then said team ascends the mountain not only once, but back to back with prospects of back to back to back, well I can understand your angst and accept that you are simply reduced to silly mertzatronic giberish. I freely admit I may have hated to come to this site to hear you had it been around WAY BACK in 2006 to 2008…in any event, I’m pretty sure Muschamp2.0 will figure out how to get the least out of more in year 2. I see relevancy in your future, the sands of time are shifting. In any event I’m just glad you and your fan base hasn’t disappeared and committed suicid e like a few of your bammer homies…respect for taking your thumps like a man (or woman gfa), cheers…I look forward to the day you can rib us once again…
Humper, going back a couple of posts regarding the portal specifically, remember that I said this is a call of the coaching staff exclusively – based in what they collectively and individually think is an interim solution at each position group. I know it’s fun to look at rankings as the ‘be-all’ criteria, but in this respect it’s difficult to compare and contrast programs in that they differ significantly in terms of self-perceived needs. This is unlike recruiting rankings, at least IMO, which can be expected to correlate with team performance longer term and in fact have a demonstrated causative effect statistically.
In this respect, both sets of values remind me of early Clemson under Dabo. Now before you say it, I acknowledge that Dabo had a lot going for him in other domains as well, while Napier is as of yet unproven, but the similarities are there.
None of this should take your eye off the ball when it comes to a three-peat in 2023. I think even though nothing is guaranteed, ever, that would be about the coolest thing to happen in years. The only challenges I see are Tennessee and whoever you guys draw in the SEC championship, which I think will be Alabama.
Sorry bro but I feel no angst about the Gators and I don’t hate UGa or puppy fans, but I will call your half brother Morons every time for what they are. Obnoxious A holes.
I was not posting on this site back in 2008 but I doubt Gator fans back then would have been as obsessed with UGA as you idiots have been with us for the past four years or so. And definitely Gator fans would not have been as classless and obnoxious as your half brother Morons are.
And again what you call giberish is not for you. You keep counting stars and portal rankings and coming here obsessing on what we are doing.
Those of us with wits, imagination and originality will keep doing what we do. Again you don’t have to participate. Now are you so obsessed you can’t ignore it either?
We will see
The rest of your retort sounds like you are mad and want to take your ball and leave, but before you do let’s angle on in to one very interesting point you made…but I doubt Gator fans back then would have been as obsessed with UGA as you idiots have been with us…in the immortal words of Lynyrd and his brother Skynyrd let me jist say underwear overload alert…So take another toke, have a blow for your nose
One more drink, fo ol, would drown you (Hail yeah)
Ooh, that smell
Can’t you smell that smell?
Not mad at all and everyone knows what I said is true.
Keep trying little obsessed troll
And pray tell why you and your Moron half brothers are all over our articles instead of posting on your pages about your team. You idiots spend more time on the Gator side than you do on your own articles. Sick and obsessed is no way to go through life dummy
Who is this everyone you’re speaking for?
Sorry Doc, I got carded by the UF article security guard and was distracted from your eloquent response…actually I like your Daboanalogy of CBN, unfortunately for Sunbelt Billy, he ain’t going to get 9 years and 5 losses to SC to climb the mountain. He’ll only get 3 to 4…
What’s unfair about that? Your new hero, gagatorlakewithnolife wanted him fired before he even got here. I think 4 years is adequate time one way or the other.
Yes, I suppose 3 to 4 years should be long enough to know the trajectory Of a program but had Clemson agreed with us they would be 2 natties short of where they are now…
Leghumper, you keep mentioning different recruiting statistics but not the average stars number, in which the Gators are 6th overall, and 4th in the SEC. Quality > quantity. Also, schools like Texas and TAMU have had high recruiting classes and yet it hasn’t yielded championship results. Like Doc said, we’ll see in the next few years if CBN will be the Gator coach of the future, but I’m feeling optimistic and looking forward to next season’s growth.
In terms of fanbases, I’m glad I’m in the Gators camp, fun posts and insightful comments overall. Except for a few, it’s nice to read about Gator fans who enjoy their team and can be upbeat and optimistic even when the team is having struggles. Life is full of ups and downs, and how you handle them says a lot about you as a person.
