Cameron Carroll, former Tulane RB, reveals SEC transfer destination
Cameron Carroll is a veteran running back transfer out of Tulane. On Monday, he revealed his next destination, bringing the former Green Wave back to the SEC.
With a photo on social media, Carroll announced a commitment to Billy Napier’s Florida program. He is the eighth transfer player to commit to the Gators this cycle.

Carroll’s best season at Tulane came during the 2020 season when he led the team with 12 rushing touchdowns and finished second with 741 rushing yards. He also finished second on the team with 516 rushing yards during the 2021 season but added versatility in the passing game, posting 714 yards from scrimmage that year.
Carroll was limited to one game in 2022 after injuring his leg in the season opener. He brings veteran experience with over 1,600 career rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns to Gainesville.
With Mertzatron at the helm, this kid will be lucky to get a touch all season.
I’m hearing Napier is planning a radical new offense called The Fulback Triple Stack. The scheme is three fullbacks and a QB who runs every play— which is why we haven’t signed any receivers. The scheme only works if you have a towering titan at QB, a generational talent descended from cheesebrain royalty, it only works if you have MERTZ!
I love this. Please never stop.
And this kid must be one of the three fullbacks.
He was a 2-star phenom in HS who burnished his credentials for four years at Tulane… before they became relevant.
The possibilities for that Gator offense next season are just off the charts! All I can say to Coach Napier is, “You better be right with these pickups.”
Mizell, Wilson, and Jean are three really good WR recruits that UF signed. WR is not a great portal need. But UF might take one if it is a good fit. But OLB and a 4th QB are greater needs.
Looking forward to seeing those young receivers do their thing!
Hey Truth, I just heard a rumor that Napier’s seventeen QB staff analysts have recommended that the Gator NIL collective beg for forgiveness, double down and offer Rashada $26 million right away to sign back up with the Gators. They’ve determined he’s the only thing that might keep the Mertzinator from destroying the SEC forever!
Any truth to that?
It’s so right it must be true!
In other words, it’s so crazy it can’t be wrong!
You nailed it Neal!
The Mertzatron has awoken.
After years of boredom dealing with inferior adversaries up north-he has teleported to the football Mecca. To the land of Swamps and fierce reptilians who do battle with the most formidable adversaries in the land.
Woe to those that have awakened the sleeping Mertzatron who became the Mertzinator and will soon be known as Graham The Mertziless
The prophecy has come true! Lo unto the fool who wakes a sleeping Mertz!
For those interested in such things, he’s 5’ 11” and 225 pounds, runs a 4.6 forty. Seems like another big, strong back
Happy to have him .. Napier has shown he is pretty good at getting qualify running backs ( Johnson and Etiene ).
Yes, the RBs were definitely a strength, looking forward to seeing what this young man can do.
3 star running back, 3 star linebacker
No quarterback and no receivers
Sounds like Florida is going to be the old georgia tech.
Boring boring boring football
Mizell, Wilson, and Jean are WRs. Really good WRs.
And they look hungry.
Easy solution, tune out!
It’s going to be easy to beat the Gators next season. Defenses will stack the line especially when you have a proven interception star quarterback and one receiver.
Brand new 3 stars on defense and a negative 9 star defensive coordinator.
Three years from now we’ll start all over again. The portal at one point had a bunch of quarterbacks and we get hurt with Mertz.
Let’s just wait and see how it all plays out on the field. I’m willing to give Napier the benefit of the doubt.
Napier jumped all over Mertz. He clearly sees something in him that he thinks he can develop a lot better than Wisconsin did. Watch his videos. He is fairly athletic and has an NFL arm. Just needs to get into the right system and get his skills developed.
Former QB, former QB coach, former OC, current Gator offensive play caller. Napier should know what to look for. If he saw something in Mertz, he should get the benefit of our doubt.
That said, if Mertz can’t take his eyes off his primary receivers and forces passes into coverage, as mentioned in several articles about him, no amount of coaching will break him of those bad habits at his age. He’ll be Napier’s Feleipe Franks.
That’s what gives me chills– he seems like another QB who doesn’t have what it takes between the ears. I have to believe that if he doesn’t show an ability to be smarter with the football, he will not see the field unless Miller is even worse.
I focus a lot on what QBs do prior to the snap. Miller is no Trask, but he’s at least Grier good.
It was just hard for him to develop chemistry with his receivers in three weeks, then make it happen while running for his life in Vegas.
I’m willing to give Miller a mulligan for that bowl game performance for the reasons you just put forth. If he turns out to be Grier good then we will make some noise
A zero star fan like you won’t help things get better lake life .. why don’t you hit the transfer portal and see what kind of nil deal a useless fan can get ?
I hear Miami is looking for fans and have billionaire money to throw at useless bodies willing to sit in the Miami heat when Duke and Georgia Tech come calling.
Funny you said that. Reminds me of the days you could score a Miami-Duke football ticket inside a Burger King happy meal. Ruiz has ruined all the fun throwing good money after bad
Sadly, nothing EVER stays the same Cojones.
Always good to have depth at RB. Here’s to hoping he can have an immediate impact as a kick returner.
ugagatorfakeofthelakeshakeandbakedawglovinpoopmonster, i thought you died, but that’s just me being negative, i apologize. Happy Gator day to you. Did you see we got a fireplug for a RB and added depth at LB. Billy also brought in 27 more special asst. to the coach-coordinating gatorade cooler mixers. You can’t have enough staff members you know. Anyday, glad you didn’t die, i get tired of making fun of Negan & Gwhite.
Sorry, that’s anyway, not any day
He’s a power running with excellent receiving skills out of the backfield. He will not be returning kicks.
Hoping to see us utilize the running backs in the passing game a little more this year. It was very lacking in 2022. Not sure if that was the scheme or the QB, though I am thinking it was the QB.
That bullet AR threw right at that UK LB on that swing pass to Wright, which the LB happily took to the house, probably dissuaded Napier from trying that again the rest of the season!
Truth…..The rumors are true but the offense won’t be that! The new offense is called the reverse ball control PUNT. It means QB takes the ball and holds it as long as possible by going backwards. The running backs need to block for the QB as he runs around usually losing yards for 3 plays and then PUNT and play defense hopefully!!!!
The logic is you can gain more backwards yards than forward easily. And by doing this along with watching and running the play clock. You can usually get into the 4th quarter in a close game. Then you suddenly reverse the offense and actually try to score!!!! If your not down by 30 you might have a chance!!!!!
PS. Napier feels it could just possibly work!!!!!
Negan
That’s some good strategy!
Wow… I wonder if this is true negative outlook from some of the Gator faithful, or just sarcasm run wild.
Let not your heart be troubled: Mrtruth, Cajones, and StL all share the same spiritual gift of sarcasm, and add a dollop of creative writing laced with humor for effect. It’s about the only thing that will get us through this silly season with any sanity left! Right? (to quote Billy Napier)
