Jordan Burch, former South Carolina 5-star DL, announces Pac-12 commitment
Former South Carolina defensive end Jordan Burch has a new home for 2023.
Burch announced on Wednesday that he would be transferring to Oregon. Burch was previously recruited by Oregon head coach Dan Lanning while he served on staff at Georgia under Kirby Smart.
Burch, a former 5-star from Hammond (S.C.), was 1 of the key components to the Gamecocks’ success in 2022 under 2nd-year coach Shane Beamer. In 13 games, the 6-foot-6, 286-pound defender registered career-highs in tackles (56), tackles for a loss (7.5) and sacks (3.5).

Burch, who was listed as the No. 8 player in the 2020 recruiting class, was the 2nd-highest ranked recruit in South Carolina history behind only defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. In 34 games with the Gamecocks, he totaled 105 tackles with 12.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, five pass breakups, and an interception return for a touchdown.
Go ahead and cast this is stone
Lanning will have Oregon in the CFP within the next 3 years
I might have to agree. He seems to be the only coach in the PAC concentrating on defense.
Good luck to him. I hate to lose him but I hope for his sake that this works out as he was finally coming around to his potential. He had a great bowl game.
Just goes to show that Phil Knight’s billion$ can reach all the way to the East coast and pluck a Columbia kid away from his hometown college.
Not hard to replace his production, lazy bum. More stars than career sacks.
Losing four starters especially play-makers seems egregious. Has to be about money. Seems as if Oregon is recruiting other teams’ players before the season ends. NCAA should look into this.
